Well some males want to play with only males because they think "females can't go hard" but i don't think this is the case here.

I personally wouldn't care if I was a member of a band with females in it, as long as they're good enough. But to be honest (and I'm using guitar as an example), I've come across very few female maestro guitarists (infact only one good guitarist)

rest assured, they do not. or at least, i'm sure theres as many males playing instruments for the "image" as females. just because a couple of your "chick mates" didn't take up guitar properly doesn't mean you can judge the whole female population on that. what a stupid generalisation.

Anyway dudes, seven_eleven obviously has ambitions to make it big and he clearly has researched the key ingredients. Look at all the great bands, Led Zep, Sabbath, Gn'r, Queen, metallica, megadeth.... not a single female in sight.

Actually I do agree that there aren't many (if any) maestro female guitarists, but there are plenty of incredible female musicians / singers. I guess Rawk will always be a male-dominated genre purely because it's the preference of men, and the best rawk acts definitely rely on a suberb guitarist.

Hey, Saul, just curious - what do you think of the Datsuns? Technically, and performance-wise? I saw them at BDO and to me and my (accomplished guitarist) friend they seemed so rocknroll it was almost a parody of the old 70s greats.

for gods sake. this is just a stupid sexist debate, their are heaps of females in music who are just as amazing. The velvet underground and nico? they look one hell of a lot better than g'n'r (what a fad!).

OH and by the way. I think the reasons girls arn't as big in music as guys is because it's always been that way. Anyone who wants to tell me that sexism doesn't still exist in music can debate it with me all they want. The fact is, that often female musicians are still thought of as 'the token girls'. Girls just arn't taken as seriously. This thread is one damn good example... if females were, we wouldn't even have this issue, would we?!

BTW Blondie, The pixies, The International Noise Conspiracy, The Dandy warhols, Talking heads... all with great female musicians. Too bad there arn't more..

They've got potential, for sure. We need more straight up, ass kicking hard rock bands.

My friend's guitar teacher, I've heard her nail the SCOM solo. I was impressed.
