betchadupa to support QOTSA and Pearl Jam

Forums: NZ Music,

Good for Betchadupa but FUCK PEARL JAM. Bastards. Just like the fucking Tea Party..t.hey take Betchadupa with them but don't bloody come to New Zealand. *Sighs and spits on Eddie Vedder* *Feels better* *Feels guilty* *Cleans Eddie off and gives him an apple*

Further to my prediction that Betchadupa will be this years big success story.

fuck betchdupa get all the good gigs

true, but it would be a tad weird if 8 foot sativa were opening for them...

Oh man, much respect Betchadupa. That is very, extremely cool

Yay for betchadupa! fantastic, for a band that started off playing pearl jam covers! and now they're supporting them...wish there was a pearl jam show here though. ah well. again, three cheers for betchadupa! hip hooray, hip hooray etc. hopefuly it'll just be the start of a great year for them!

i want to be negative, but ill just say god speed or whatever.

//I want to be negative

Why?

nah better left unsaid.

YAY go betchadupa!! woot woot

This is a rather odd tour line-up. 3 different styles which are:

Betchadupa: alternative rock or whatever
Pearl Jam: Alternative, indie, hard rock
Queens of the Stone Age: Stoner Rock

Pearl Jam indie??

not really, well to tell you the truth im not too familiar with PJ. I think i wrote that down because it stuck in my head when one of my friends described them as that.

Shite
shite
good

It sure helps when a certain band member's father is friends with a certain Eddie Vedder. Is that nepotism?

And another band member's father is a big rock promoter.

But no matter what helping hands they've had, they have the talent to back it up.

This is probably true, I guess. I cant think of any NZ act particularly more suited to supporting Pearl Jam.

But if Weta was still around...
(the thought brings tears to my eyes)

i think you'll find that liam and the rest of the dupa boys get on really well with eddie as well.

Yeah on the whole I find that I get on pretty well with my dads mates.

Before I start I would like to introduce myself as this is my 1st posting. My name is Shaun and I am from Bendigo in Victoria, Australia. I am a mad Betchadupa fan. You would think with the news of Betchadupa supporting QOTSA and Pearl Jam the media in Australia would start promoting in my opinion one of the best bands in Australasia (at least!).

However, since I first become aware of the band (when I saw them live supporting Jebediah) I have only seen two mentions of them in the papers, and one of them was an album review (which was good). Australia's national radio station Triple J amazes me with its inability to play a betchadupa song on air, although it does have Drop D on its voting lists, although no one will vote for it because they havent bloody heard it.

All the information I have found out about Betchadupa is from the internet, even the news of their support gigs coming up. Not one mention of this is made in the Australian media (The Pearl Jam tour notices still only have the healers as the support act).

Anyhow, for reasons beyond my control, I am not able to attend these gigs (the QOTSA was sold out and I was weighing up whether to go to see Pearl Jam by myself because no friends wanted to fork out $80 for a ticket...if i had known betchadupa was supporting i would have the ticket in my pocket right now).

Fortunately, Liam has said on their website that they will be announcing their own shows as well. As I will probably only find out a day before they play by looking through Australian papers, I would appreciate it if anyone on here in the know can tell me when shows are announced in Melbourne and when. Thanks.

Also, thank you for spending half an hour of your life reading what some people may call dribble, but what I call venting some anger towards the Australian media,

Shaun

betchadupa will be playing a coulpe of their own shows in Melbourne and Sydney.
Melbourne 1st Feb @ the Espy
Sydney 5th Feb @ The Hopetoun.

Thanks for that information! Amazing how I have to go to an international site to find it out, even if it is the bands home country. Unfortunately I am working Saturday night and someone is already having the night off (beat me to it!) so I miss out... again. Will be telling my mates in Melbourne to get there for sure tho...

Wow, hang on a sec, its also in the Gig Guide in the Herald-Sun...amazing!
