Geekboy's suggested day would be....
Get up and have a hearty breakfast - maybe at Brazil on K Road and head towards Ericsson Stadium to catch Pluto on the Green Stage at 12:30. When they finish their set pop over to the Hip Hop Stage for the end of Rhombus, or stick around for Elemenop, but head back to the Green Satge by 1:45 to see what all the fuss is about The Music. Then head into the Boiler Room to see Chicks on Speed (the band not the girls in the crowd!).
Then it's time to brave the main arena for the first time of the day to see local garage hero's The D4 at 3.30pm. After the rock-n-roll muthaf*ckers you have an hour or so kill - grab a drink or something - pop into the Boiler Room to see some of Concord Dawn, or head over the the hip-hop stage to see the Dawn Raid Showcase.
Head back into the main arena for Pacifier on the Blue Stage at 5.15, followed by Queens of the Stone Age on the Orange Stage and then by PJ Harvey on the blue.
Dependant on how you feel, head off to see Kraftwerk in the Boiler room, or hang about to see Jane's Addiction on the Orange Stage.
Check out the first half of the Foo Fighters in the main arena - then run like a fecking idiot to catch the first half of Xzibit on the Hip Hip Stage at 10pm - before running over to the green stage to see the last 45 minutes of The Datsuns.

i think i might turn up to the BDO late this year. the morning haul around the stadium always leaves me pretty tired for the rest of the day. i definately want to see kraftwerk, and the rest of it i don't really care (sad isn't it?). i wouldnt mind seeing qotsa, and murderdolls,,,, especially because they arent on the main stage. i always preferred the atmosphere of the green stage for some reason. at the main stages im always too busy being crushed or standing too far from the stage to see anything and enjoy myself.
hopefully i dont burn to a crisp this year. last year i wore 30+ sunscreen and reapplied it every two hours, but STILL got burnt. grrr.... damn my gothic pale skin! ;)

But, as I'm sure many of us have learned from previous years, you can plan all you like, but things usually end up different on the day.
Last year I had to run off during the White Stripes to throw up (food poisoning, not disgust). The Lilypad stage was running late, so I had to suffer through some boring drag queens until Peaches came on. Then the delay from the System of a Down pause threw off the timing on the main stages. By the end of the evening I was just sitting around not really caring who I was watching, tired, but having a good time.
Of course, I'm still going to plan this year's BDO.

and while I have a box open..... mana man sounds like you are having a shite of a start to the year, it can only get better, well heres hoping it does, from memory our collections don't over lap that much at all, but if you want me to copy my navigator with bouns disc ..... we lost close to 100 albums in a move a while back and were payed out around $25 .. cos they were only old records after all , bastards! so I understand your pain and the need this one time to burn :)

like anything it takes time. basically if you take some good photos just get some press, magazines knowing who you are, if they like your work then it's all good. When i hear of a gig i want to shoot, i ask a magazine if they'd like some photos, if they do, they then arrange a pass.

I used to pester bands all the time with no luck, until oneday a couple of years ago, Shihad said "yeah bro, come along". I thought there was know way they would care. But karl just replied to an email of mine. I couldn't believe it, until then I'd only photographed rockquest bands, here I was shooting Shihad. After shooting Shihad I found it easy to talk to any band in NZ. it was a crazy break, the break that started me going! I will always have a soft spot in my heart for those boys giving me a chance. They used my photos on their website and i thought all my christmases had come at once.

11:30 - where goodshirt played in 2001, and blindspott opened with a bang in 2002, its 8 Foot Sativa's turn to explode upon and destroy the main stages in 9 days. They will be awesome!
12:00 - probably 28 days i'd imagine not sure. bands are average around that time.
