Now i am not a big fan of Stephen malkmus. Though he has a few nice ditties to me his music taste is far better than his music in my humble opinion which has led me to realise what a great event for New Zealand Music this festival will be.
Everyone knows Mr Malkmus was a huuuuuuuuuuuge fan of that fucked up thing called the "Dunedin Sound".
I wonder what fantastic New Zealand bands this man will choose?

Surely Mr Malkmus would be salivating at the thought of getting a rejuvenated Clean (they could flog their new Compilation off by the hundreds) or even UK-resident Ghost Club involved (2/3rds of the 3Ds -- an old Pavement-era contemporary).
Although it looks like he's doing the New York leg of the tour, so how about Mad Scene/Hamish Kilgour and Bailterspace.

Hiya, We have had the ATP gigs over in the UK for the last three years now and they are fantastic events,as you get a real mix of music. You guys should definatley get something similar organised over there as would be a great event!!

Well i heard some news in relation to some great Dunedin bands yesterday:
hiss explosion have added thomas fucking bell to the band and they now are a force.
and that puddle are amazing.
In other words: i would have it in wellington. I love this town.

As Teina mentioned previously, it would be great to see something like Bailter Space reform and play at ATP. While they're not strictly 'Dunedin Sound', they do hail from Christchurch :)
I thought I saw Alistair from Bailter Space at a recent Datsuns gig in NYC, but I was too afraid/embarassed to go up and say 'Are you ...?'. Call me a wuss if you like, but I've got my fingers crossed for that possible reforming.
