What ever happened to ... ?

I've been away from home for a little while and its funny how quickly
you lose touch with whats going on back home. Even with the joy that
is the internet. So, there is many NZ muso gods I would like to find
out about. Please help me if you can!

What ever happened to ...

Dave Yetton
(I didnt like the 2nd Stereo Bus album much, but I'd still buy another
one).

Chris Matthews
(He was in a group called 'Almost Normal', but I hear that has split)

Andy Brough
(Does Bike still exist?)

Ed Cake
(Nice work with Neil, is he doing any stuff of his own?)

Fiona McDonald
(OK debut, but another strawpeople style collaboration would be nice)

Simon McLaren
(Have the subliminals really split?)

Paul Casserly
(Do the Strawpeople still exist?)

cheers

Forums: NZ Music,

ED CAKE: i heard this EXCELLENT electronic track he made............fucking funny. "there is no hormones in da chicken"

Simon McLaren: yes the subliminals have spilt. He is currently working on an EXCELLENT album with dale cotton due out next year on Turbine records.

that is all i know.

> ED CAKE:

...is also in Golden Horse, who released their debut album recently and are represented on this very site:

http://www.nzmusic.com/artist.cfm?i=260 ]

Chris Matthews was booked to play the Darkness Gathering last year, but he never turned up in Wellington. No word since.

Chris Matthews is living and making music in Dunedin at the moment ... last seen playing with Jay Clarkson at Arc a while ago.

> ED CAKE - nah, ed isn't in golden horse - former bressa creeting cakes Geoff and Joel are - Ed is Ed Cake, making his own album - he's also been doing things like, the soundtrack for the movie 'Rain' with Neil Finn.........andoru's right - simon (sleepers union) maclarens new stuff Is excellent

On a scale of 1 to 10 1 being the lowest 10 being the highest. I would give it a 9 and a half.

damn now I want to know whats become of Dave Yetton and The Stereobus

The Stereobus haven't broken up as such, they're just on an extended break. Every time I see Jason Fa'Foi I ask him when they are going to put something new out, he has said before that he's keen to do something but it's just a matter of organising the others.
I'm sure that they will get together and record a new album sometime in the future, it just may be a little while in coming. They all have their own lives to lead and at the moment I guess they are content going along the way things are.

don't want to start a frenzy...but the rumour is that stereobus album number 3 may be happening sometime mid 2003. from a very very reliable source.

Andy B is in Dunedin probably drinking red wine somewhere.

Thanks to everyone that has helped to re-educate me so far.

Still no word on the whereabouts of Fifi and those Strawpeople boys. I was thinking about a few other people that have slipped off my radar, so ...

What ever happened to...

Aaron Tokana
(I never got over the demise of Weta - is there a silver lining to that very black cloud?)

Chris Heazlewood
(yes, hes a bastard, but he played a mean geeeytarre)

thanks again
Johnny

Aaron is a painter in wellington last time i heard.

Chris plays in a band called cash guitar. they rock.

Fiona has receently been involved in a television project - the Great Art Trip - in which she went round the country loooking at various people and their artistic endeavours - such as the chick in Dunedin collecting '50's style tea cosies! She was working on a new album for 2003 according to her website which has since been taken down.

As for Strawpeople, they're still doing stuff, but their website says nothing about what they're doing - there has been talk of another CD however.

More importantly - where the hell is Jan Hellriegel???

Oh, and Chris Heazlewood is part of Dimmer, on the album at least, was working on a film in 2001. Shit - he might be playing tomorrow night. I love King Loser, by the way.

//Aaron is a painter in wellington last time i heard.

i heard he was in lyttleton and had a local girl pregnant.
he was watching from the wings at the first pacifier gig in chch.

actually that was so long ago she wouldnt be pregnant anymore. if she ever was or even existed...

i heard aaron ran a mini putt in chch or something....maybe......aaron tokon is the NZ elvis.

err, i'm saying nah again, but heazlewood hasn't been a part of Dimmer for quite a few years now....but he doesn't need to, he's quite good as heazlewood himself.....and, sorry blink, but surely there's a few more elviss before aaron......

spanish elvii!!!

where is bogga beasly and whats he up 2???
i've just seen the i'm on fire video and that is just soooo coool
im sad now i was too young to appreciate the greatness of head like a hole

I'm a bit far away from it all, but I suspect Booga is sticking up posters in Wellington, unless some change has happened to the universe. A year ago when the greatest hits came out there was talk that maybe Nigel and Booga and the drum guy (whose name I cant remember) might get back together and record a few things, but dont hold your breath.

Incidently, a friend of mine spotted the Hiddebeast playing Electric Drums in an Abba covers band playing at Zebos. Ah well, gotta pay the bills I guess...

//What ever happened to ... ?
i know this is off topic (read above)
but can anyone tell me what shihad/pacifier are upto in the us??

i heard they are releasing their first single then the album
