i just joined this site and was wondering if the general population of members were into generally rock (excuse the loose use of the word) style music as the topics of chat would suggest. I am asking if many of the members hear are into nz produced electronic music, weither it be d&bass, house, techno etc... also what about local soundsystems, Roots foundation or the toastie crew for instance & what about Fat freddy's drop and the likes. I would appreciate some feedback, Cheers.

Enough of these electronica-rock crossovers please. Tadpole almost sound like a female-led Korn (no offense to either Korn or Tadpole fans). And is it just me or is Auckland's 95b "we're too intelligent and sophiscated for guitar music" FM turning into an almost carbon copy of George FM? Oxymoron of the "new millenium": dance culture.

Hi strahl - I think the variety of musical interest is broader than it may seem. Yes, there seems to be a huge interest in the local 'rock' scene, but that may also be because those members are the loudest -that is, making the most noise on chat and voting and opinions. There's some way cool stuff on the site that doesn't fit into the general rock genre - roots/dub/dance sounds like Bongmaster, Trinity Roots, Black Seeds, cool hip hop like King Kapisi, and electronica sounds as well. For me - it's all good - loking forward to more of everything on the site.

admittedly, nzmusic.com is a bit low on 'all' ranges of music, but it's mainly because we started life as a music video site and naturally our selection followed what we could get our hands on. we would love the "non-rock" people to be all over this site, but they seem (in general) to be less forthcoming. Please, please help us get more nzmusic in front of the world and I do mean ALL nz music. we love rock, electronica, dub, hip hop, pacific, classical, opera, dance, metal, even the the goddam wiggles (if they were nz).
there is an email link at the bottom of every page - use it cos we read and react to everything people send in. we are also a few days away froma massive change so look out for a whole new bunch of stuff...
