Now this is gona be chaos

A number of nzmers will be based around a yellow and purple tent which will be flying a black flag which may or may not have the letters nzm on it, please feel free to drop by to say hi.
It is sad to see posts after an event say oh you were there too? dam I missed you.....

Sounds like a plan - I'll see you there.

I'll be there!

(hope that doesn't put anyone else off...:-)

look out for the hairy guy who looks like peter jackson with a camera.

//who looks like peter jackson
lmho... who said you looked like Peter Jackson *cough*

everyone who pass's me in the street........But i've trimmed my beard....may even shave it off, so no more comparisons....getting pretty tired of it. though it's better then being called osama.

does this mean that there is camping at this place?

osama, don't shave off the beard, makes u instantly recognisable... ;)
why is it that evertime i see ur running towards newtown???

nah ur no osama :)
wonder if i'd recognise u with no beard???
hmmmmm
not sure over that one ;)

right.....it's coming off!...here's hoping i've got no beard tan line...

So I might get a glimpse of what Peter Jackson will look like without the beard?
This I gotta see!

Only one more sleep before I head to Nelson. Yay!

Hey, aka - you weren't in Everyman Records hassling the staff/gently requesting information about a Mother Guru gig this weekend were you?

me ????
No I was Mother Ducking the nzmers who are staying here
Mother Guru are playing with tadpole at the grumpy mole
black seeds are at the phat club
and The feelers at the rewaka hotel
And everyone else is at the Cusp TOMOROW!!!!!!!!!!

but blink even with out face fuzz the camera will give you away, i can not imagine that you would be willing to have them removed just so you are not // instantly recognisable
Carl no sorry on camping at the cusp, but it is a "sun shelter"..... carl my last email to you bounced ..

How many are you mother ducking for? (and why not me??) No worries - Nelson is nice to be back in, and I'm looking forward to the Cusp, and Black Seeds/Zuvuya on Friday in Takaka.

is there somewhere in/around/near nelson where we can camp for free? and light fires?
either legally or well hidden is fine.

Whoohoo!

The NZM tent was a success. We had Aka, Gina Lash, Jimi, Blink, Divad, Carl, Nyahh, Minty, Trace, Jon Jr, Rottonpear. Special thanks to Jimi for giving me his chupa chup & the several people who shared their soggy South Island chips with me & Jon Jr for looking after the chicks in the mosh & especially Aka for organising everything :-)

The best acts to me were Mother Guru & 1QA. High energy, great music.

Cool fireworks at midnight.

& everyone signed Jon Jrs Englebert record under their logins. It's pretty impressive. Hopefully Blink will get some photos of us all up sometime.

was damn good fun eh what ol chap. the bands i saw were all impressive, but special mention has to go to betchadupa - the first time id seen them and they were so much better than i expected.... and i had high expectations. liam finn is a nutter and a very talented stage presence. drop d my fave song went off

the nzm tent went well.... aka got the MC to read out a public announcement for us all to congregate at a tent which sounded like a good idea at the time, but it quickly dawned on me that we were 'cool' not cool and the announcement was met by calls of 'nerds!' etc (ok so that was from us :) )

mega i noticed you were very keen on the soggy chips that you so deride!! :p

Yeah man, soggy chips are good. It was Blink who asked if all S.I. chips were soggy. Heh heh, I just took Jimi's chips without asking. He thought I was "a random" at first.

Meeting NZMers is cool fun, everyone got on pretty well.

The Cusp was heaps of fun, and it was great to meet everyone.
I had a horrible flu/cold and didnt drink anything except for lemsip and herbal tea.
Thanks aka for being so hospitable :-)

cusp/nelson rocked
aka putting up with me for 5 days was awesome, can't say thanks enough for that :)
meeting mega and rottenpear was awesome, really awesome, we had great fun
it was awesome meeting all the other NZmers blink, jimi, carl., divad, myshkin etc.
seeing the bands (i'd only seen one of them before)
sad that it was usually mega, rottenpear and i at the stage, dancing to the music
sad that spanky didn't give me a t-shirt even though i danced for the whole set, he just gave it to some wanker who came up for prizes
a big thing was finding my wallet in my suitcase
and liam finn borrowing my sunblock

theres so so much more that i can wank on about but i won't... cause there are a lot of things ive forgotten as well :$

if i can say one thing that everyone will read and just belive me on, its this, cusp next year is the place to go... go there and experience it, its worth it...

and of course gina lash for being the coolest person around!!!
always being nice, and being nice enough to keep me cool by pouring water over my head yesterday ;)

cusp was awesome thanks to everyone who helped make it great

You found yr wallet, Jon you goof!
Was great to meet all you guys, you were all really cool ppl.
Thanx to Aka and gina for letting us over run there house, you guys are stars!
Bring on the cusp 04 i say!

living in the north island sux some times. might be time for a move to the south i think

Hello all,
Just got back from Nelson, right out of the car and straight to the computor (man I'm such a geek).
The Cusp was absolutely fantastic! The bands were great and I was really impressed with Mother Guru after hearing them for the first time, and Minuit were amazing! Nelson is so crammed packed with talent, and it's such a lovely mellow city as well. I'm missing the beaches already...
The sparkling ruby of a cherry on top was meeting all the NZmers. You guys were all so awsome to talk to. A special thanks for AKA for organising the meet and BBQ.
Three cheers for AKA!

hip hip horray!!!!
three cheers well earned
and another three cheers for the NZMers who came along to the BBQ!!!
allways good fun meeting people u've never seen b4, makes for interesting conversation, concering ideas about what certain people look like in reality ;)

Aww shucks enought now, it twas no big thang, it jerst a bit of southern hospitality
Seriously it was a pleasure.

I have now 3 times tryed to write one of my long rambling reviews on this event, but the computer gods consipre to prevent me, so this time a few small points spelling mistakes and all

1. hugely large shout out to Jill Larkings (from the city council) and Darrly Coppins (daz of mother guru adn dazzleme productions) who threw the best new years party I have been to in years... and the rate payers of Nelson who payed for a goodly amount of the money

2. yes it is pretty much confirmed for this year that there will be a cusp '04 .... by the way daz was impressed with the '04 topic

3. the numbers for the 1st ever cusp ... 6, 000 throu the gates... (this maybe a bit over inflated because the price being a gold coin, they did not give pass outs you had to pay each time you came in.. well so I was told by Divad) peaking at about the 4, 500 mark at 10.30 .... and only 2 arrest. The word from the council is that they saw it as a great succes

4. The music on the whole was great I did feel that some band were out of their usual comfort zone playing to a stadium, or how ever you say that certain band do sound better in small enclosed venues

5. yay for everyone who came and a big ya boo sucks to all the locals whose only thoughts on the cusp was "bugger going somewhere were I can't have a beer"........... who needs them.

6. and yes it was nice to see everyone to came over to the tenty thingie and I was encourged by everyone to get it announced ... honest I was just joking when I 1st said it.... thanks jimis for tell every one I'm a total freak ;P

7. see you all later in the year and I hope this years is a good one for you all :)

well heres my ramble. its only vaguely relevant. we hit the road on the 28th in the red rocket for the rockin' red rocket road trip and called through timagroove. no one there was up for a roadtrip so we hit the caroline bay carnie. the only ride worth our dollars was the hurricane. didnt mix too well with the big feed of chips though. back on the road and it was dark by the time we got to ashburton. tried to get some more people in the car, but again they sucked. so we went to town because drunk people are easier to convince. that undid my years of trying to forget everything i left behind, but we signed up some numbers. best fire of the trip was here (what kind of gas station lets a drunk dude fill up an empty vodka bottle with diesel at 4am?). unfortunately by the time we woke up in the afternoon, the people had figured we had left without them, so they left, and we were looking for them. gutted... absolutely gutted. so we dropped it down a few cogs, fed it the fat and cruised north (after buying a toothbrush and a cowboy hat). over the lewis pass and saw the first crash at springs junction. another crash at the first bridge after springs junction. got to maruia falls and found a dodgy place to camp and cooked up noodles and tuna. wicked. had an early night then rocketed through to nelsun. did some laps, got some coffee, went to the beach. maximum props to that beach. saw a posse we knew from high school so laughed at them. found the other crew we hooked up so crashed their place to cook tea (noodles, salmon, tomatoes). hit the town in nelson. the "djs" repeatedly denied our requests for nirvana. ran into half of ashburton in one bar, so we ran out. finally at closing time we got some nirvana and some pearl jam. got a taxi to the camping ground, got busted by security, got a taxi back again. got another pie, then a free taxi 'home'. slept in the car. woke up cooking, drove to the beach. did some laps of town, fresh fm is the best radio station ever - what a wonderful world followed up with nirvana, scoped out some quiet parks to sleep in, bought some supplies, went to the cusp (why is it called the cusp?). set up camp at the back of the stadium. enjoyed the sounds of hikoikoi. got sick of the dude between sets who wouldnt shut up. moved closer for 1qa, who sounded very nice. checked in to the nzm tent (which wasnt really much of a tent). degrees k didnt really suit the outside daylight thing. clowndog might have had some alright songs but the dude wouldnt shutup. had a go on the roundup, didnt live up to the hurricane. mother guru fulfilled the dread quota and played some nice tunes even. betchadupa played the best set i have ever seen from them, crazy drum fills and guitar solos everywhere, rocking up songs in new ways. the fireworks werent very well coordinated though - one lot would go off, then they would be nothing, then the next lot would come. the whole countdown thing sucks anyway so i dont care. BUT I DIDNT GET A KISS!!!! i was gutted... absolutely gutted. wheres the love nelsun? rhombus could have been ok, but the dude wouldnt shutup. drove to the beach, got breath tested. the dude told me to count to ten but then he cut me off halfway through. pretty damn rude. no wonder no one respects the police. there were more cops at the beach then people so we drove back. got another breath test. i ripped through the 1-to-10 this time so that i didnt get cut off. wicked. our number one campsite was full of people, so we checked out the map and found a nice spot on the side of the road somewhere. got up in the morning and went to the beach for a swim. then went to the carnie beside the beach. some dude who sold belt buckles told me i look like ozzy. so i threw him a few metal salutes and gave him a massive props. if the kareoke there was any guide, then the future of new zealand music is doomed. it was apalling. i got some wicked aviators for ten dollars so i was stoked. some mc was giving some shouts to the massive and he said someone was blowing the biggest bubbles in new zealand. we looked but could not find so we did a drive by and took him out. took a drive to aka's castle. had an awesome feed to last for days. massive props and respect etc to the local crew who kept it real for us. the fruit was a blessing. and the rest of the team, its crazy reading your posts now that ive met you. nzm represent. then we hit the road till we saw a tunnel so we camped there. got slayed by the sandflys in the morning so we bailed out of there. did some laps of westport, found a nice place by the beach to camp. played some frisbee in the sea. cooked some noodles and salmon and tomatoes for tea. the fancy pink salmon made us sick. but all was right in the morning so we headed to freckles cafe to have THE BEST PIES OF THE TRIP. cheers abbie. good coffee too, followed by a thickshake with a shot of coffee. wicked. did the token tourist thing at punakaki, they have a wicked track for skateboarding, so next time ill bring some wheels. did a lap of greymouth, got the best ice cream there. hit the roundabout south of greymouth with the train tracks through the middle, but there was too much traffic to take 'alternate routes' around it this time... gutted... absolutely gutted. went back country driving on "minor road, unsealed" type roads. stopped at the viaduct basin to wash our dishes. back to the road. ignored the "private property no trespassing signs" to drive to the entrance of the otira tunnel. hung round there till the workers came for us. up and over the pass, cut through lake lyndon. the road was so dodgy the wires fell out the back of the radio. took a while to fix without a screwdriver. was getting late so we snuck into ashburton under the cover of darkness. first shower in a week. wicked. nice to wash my hair as the dreads were setting in. last day of the trip, almost became car no. 6 in a seven car pile-up. went to radiant records in timagroove. good store - found abbasolutely on vinyl and 12 inches of hard flesh. went back to the carnie for another ride on the hurricane. it gets better everytime. THE HURRICANE IS THE BEST RIDE OF THE TRIP. then we continued south. first rain of the trip happened just south of timaru. what a good day to finish the trip - 1636.5km later, many repeats of nirvana (in utero, singles), shihad (churn, killjoy, general electric), metallica (ride the lightning, industrial tributes), pantera (reinventing the steel, live), foo fighters (color and the shape) and grinspoon (easy). with token appearances from class of 99 and probot. go the tapes. its good to be home.

It's called the cusp because 'cusp' means the meeting or joining of 2 curves - the two curves being the two years ;)

Awwwwww poor carl you didn't get a kiss :( ....I would have given you one if I had have seen you, so would have mega!

woah thats long, go carl looks like you had fun.
