Just wondering, is anyone here into watching/perfroming comedy? Stand up, sketch, improv...anything. Ive done a bit of stand up myself and its heaps of fun, not difficult to do unless you have a public-speaking complex.
I often hear people who are into the performing arts talking about "supporting the industry" - meaning, not just bands going to see other bands play but theatre and dance and comedy also.
So if anyone on the forum is in the comedy scene, whether as a participant or just a keen spectator, or would like to get into doing stand up comedy, or even if you'd just like to air your opinions about different comedians and venues etc, Id love to see what everyone thinks of it all.
And on the topic of supporting the industry...
WHO: me
WHEN: monday 2nd december
WHAT: RAW (a little like open mic)
WHERE: the classic on queen street, auckland
WHY: so you can see how bad/good i am and slag me off if you wish!
HOW MUCH: $5, students 2 for 1, remeber its a bar so if you aint 18, bring mummy or daddy.
Sometimes there are some good acts on but it's a raw night - you're not paying for pros!
Cheers!

HEY EVERYONE!! I had the pleasure of seeing Dr Gymkhana perform last night at the Classic, and I recommend EVERYONE gets on this bandwagon. Not only did she get the best reception of the night (in spite of being out-aged AND out-gendered), but I reckon she's the funniest kiwi comedienne I've seen for a looooong time!

Granted, this isn't specially difficult as most kiwi comediennes I've seen are thirty-something slappers who go on and on about menstruation and how dumb their boyfriends are. Still, she's bloody funny. Go see for yourself.
