Bands that people like to pronounce wrong

Sepultura
Rammstein
Nirvana
Placebo

Any others??

Forums: The Bar,

AC/DC

Proper: A-C-D-C
Wrong: Acca Dacca, A-C slash D-C, A-B-C-D

ok I made those up.

how about showing the proper pronounciation of the names as well as the wrong ones, so then people will start saying band names right!

Bailter Space.

or maybe its just me. by tobgue gets twisteb.

Add Baitercell to that list. I always read Bailtercell.

Einstürzende Neubauten

Bic Runga

//Einstürzende Neubauten
What??

wumpscut

is Bic supposed to be pronounced more like beck?

yeah I think so

yep, Tama's onto it (Bic = Beck)

and Einstürzende Neubauten are Blixa Bargeld of Nick Cave's Bad Seeds avant garde, experimental german art-rock-noise band. I have no idea how to say it properly...

rawer, dimmer, suka

yeah, how do you say "rawer" is it two distinct syllables like "raw" "er" or is it just one fluid sound more like "roar"? Or something different?

and how do people pronounce dimmer differently?

raw a

dummer

Yeh, I too had trouble with the pronounciation for Rawer. However, if you get really drunk and slurry you'll find the name has a certain flow to it. It's a pearler.

that was the plan my man.

cheers. the fanatics is fantastic also :)

shihad

Yeah, is it she-had or she-hard??

aussie- she-had
NZer- she-HARD

I'm sure I read an article years and years ago where they said it was originally supposed to be shy-hard, but everyone kept on using she-hard so they just stuck with that.

The Charlatans - even i'm unsure of how to say that right....

is it CHARlatons
or SHARlatons - i've had about five people tell me different pronounciations of it...

Spelt Charlatans, pronounced Sharlatans

yea - i thought as much - like the name charlotte.....

Re: Sepultura
Years ago I remember seeing on a discussion forum a dude writing aobut a band he liked called "Sir Poitra". It turned out that he meant Sepultura. He'd only heard it pronounced "Sepultra", and never seen it written down so his brain came up with the most logical spelling.

Re: Shihad
Apparently the band don't mind which way people pronounce it. I think the logic is that as it's a made-up word, it's not going to be appearing in any dictionaries with the official pronunciation.

Re: Nirvana
In "Paper Cuts" the word nirvana is repeated over and over. Mr Cobain appears to pronounce it "nirvanna" (rhyming with spanner). But somewhere between that and the release of "Nevermind" the pronunciation changed to "Nirvahna".

But then, I knew a dumb guy who called them "Nevada". Viva Los Vegas?

http://www.secret-passage.com/ ]

its Nir-va-na

nirvana = o asis :)

A friend of mine thought the metallica song 'sad but true' was saying 'It's Sepultura'

Yeah it does sound like that

I'd hazard a guess that Mr. Cobain's pronounciation of his band's name would have been somewhat influenced by the fact he was American and spent much of his time on junk.

alot of people love saying guns and roses

Apparently, it's said "hoosker doo", not Husker Du ... *shrug*
Anyway - Bob Mould tickets are sould out - so if you were snoozed you loosed...

As long as I can still get Sleater Kinney tickets, I'll be OK... can I still get them?

Today I bought my Sleater-Kinney ticket for the Saturday show from Bunny and they seemed to have quite a few.

I'm so excited. The King's Arms is a small pub which I believe is the best venue to see a band.

Yeah i think there are still plenty of Sleater Kinney tix :)
Looks like a brilliant weekend ahead - Sleater Kinney, Bob Mould and the zoo with the worlds cutest neice (but that's a private gig - heh)

i cant wait for Sleater Kinney! :)

Arrrgh!!! Why can't they bring the tickets for Sleater Kinney to wellington Real Groovy? Bitches!
