So we turned it off.
Does it bother you not having a log out button? If your worried about privacy just don't tick the "always automatically login" button and the site will ask you to login each time you visit.

Yes.....NZ acts really doooooo sell 50K of albums.....no no the record companies dont inflate those figures do they??
Oh and the record shops dont hype the figures to RIANZ to make the NZ CHART hell no....that doesn't happen does it??
Of course the programme Director dont hype their weekly radio scope reports to make certain Kiwi bands have more airplay than has really happened......shit if they took the figure from the returns it would probalby look like we didnt need a quota!!!
And some A&R Guy at a record company doesnt say to some programme director of major radio network....We're going to fly you expenses paid to Sydney , staying at the Sebel town house and meet michael jackson back stage....ooo and heres the latest S#&%(* KIWI single...How about high rotating that for us......nono of course that does happen?
Do you really think when a big international act comes here that backstage is not flooded with PD's and Record Shop bodies eating and drinking for free wondering around with their VIP plastic laminated on thinking they are cool and pushing that companies kiwi acts down consumers throats on Monday morning......SHit no that doesnt happen !!

Hype is part of the industry and the only reason that Stellar and the rest of them arnt at the top of NZM top 100 is the companies dont consider it important enough to have their 3 or 4 staff sitting there hyping the chart for them, someday soon that will probably change, then they will be sitting their voting and clearing their cookies and re logging in like 50,000 times a day!!! Then the rest of indie acts wont stand a chance!!
Oh and NZMs not rigged ??? mmmmmmmmmmmmm I have notice that the top three voted positions of Slim and two stereo bus vids doesnt seem to change mmmmmmmlooks more than just the log out button was been taken away!!!!
mmmmm interesting if you down thumb them you will notice that the three of them just swap places and dont move below position number 3 !! mmmmmmmmmmmm and nobody from 4 downward can move up regardless of the amount of votes mmmmmmmmmmmmm Oh and this site isnt rigged to favour anybody mmmmmmmmmmm NOT!!!
I think if people are prepared to work hard network and pioneer new ways of pushing themselves on the internet let them go for it!!! The internet is the only media which is not controlled by major record companies. Let's enjoy the ability to market freely before they work out a way to control this too, thats if they arn't doing that already ??!!!

The thing is, that seems to be kindof awkward - we are trying to figure out a better way - any suggestions? We will probably have charts for each month with results based on just the last 4 weeks worth of votes, as well as the current Top 100 which is more about every single vote ever recorded for each track.
FYI The top three have actually changed quite a lot recently with DNE hitting Number 1 in the last few days. Sterobus's Touchdown raced into the top 10 this week. Slim has been around No. 1 for ages but it did get Shihad's Home Again (Live) out of the top spot which was getting a little predictable. At the moment you need about 50 votes for you to get into the Top 10, and because it's cumlative it gets harder everyday.
The other weird part is that it only relates to the tracks we have at the moment on video - so if we don't have it it ain't in the list - this can make the results very skewed and not really a true representation of the NZ music scene as a whole. However we are rushing as fast as poss to get everything up there - and P.S. we don't think anyone else has anywhere near as much of a 'sample' as we have - so we are trying our best.
The thing about the Top 100 at NZM is we don't want it to be a reflection of the sales charts, or the whims of the PR types - it hopefully won't be about who has the most hype etc etc. We've all seen the effects of this kind of bizness. I don't wanna be listening to Brittany Spears or Sony's latest boy pop band ( or worse yet their NZ version) anymore than you do... It has to be driven by the opinion of the NZM site community who are consumers of fine music, not just sales units that the hype machines need to feel good about their jobs. ANd the artist. labels, and opinionated fans get equal say.
Also - just quickly - in seeing the stats behind the site, we seen that the more comments an artist/track has, the more it is exposed throughout the site, therefore the more it is clicked on, viewed, and voted for. So if you really want to get a track voted for - wack some interesting comments on and people read it, agree with it, and watch it. Thats how everyone get's to rig it!
