Venue and Store Exclusivly 4 NZ Music

Think about this concept, a venue and shop dedicated to promoting Kiwi music.

Ideally what would this shop sell?, Where would it be?, Who would play there? & How would it be promoted?

Obviously it would sell NZ CD's of all our NZ artists and would have NZ musicians putting on gigs. What I am looking for is other things that would ake this concept a massive hit!

.....

Forums: NZ Music,

Should such a place be targeted at tourists so that they get a taste of the Sound of NZ? or should it be aimed at getting more kiwis along to live gigs so that they can enjoy the quailty music we have in this country?

When I am old and retire I am going to open a tea house, it will serve good pots of tea made from leaves grown on the west coast and hot homemade soup and if anyone asks for coffee I will sneer at them. The music in the background will be New Zealand music, it will have paintings by local artists on the walls for you to buy, it will have an alcove full of nz cds for sale and every Wednesday it will have an open mic night for comedy acts, Thursday night will be for bands and music.. open mic again, Friday night will my resident band and Saturday will be invited guests, and Sunday nights I will show nz movies on the weird old roller blind of a screen..... ..... And people will come and bands will want the kudos of being invited to play at "The Teahouse"......... and because it is in Nelson it will cater to both New Zealanders and Tourist and it will be all good.
hey, it's a good dream and it's good to have a dream ;)

What a beautiful dream aahhhhhhhhh sail away.

Aka, you bring a joyful tear to my eye.

um arc cafe high street Dunedin. Aotearoa

if u guys know The Ataris, a punk band from california, they have their own music shop called some gay arse name, but they sell like only the music they want to i.e. punk rawk, they sell it in all its forms and even have performances there, if uve seen the vid for teenage riot ull understand. What im saying is that some kick arse NZ band should buy one of those shite as second hand shops on cuba and convert it to a NZ music shop, and have it so that bands can just pop over for a few songs, like an open mike nite. But yeah, those are my pearls of wisdom.

I say that should be TLBT's next mission! But you guys would have to move to the 09 so I can live in the shop. Or else.

yeah TLBT would have a wicked shop, and they can carry my clothing label when i start it after leaving school. Blink chap u wanna get in on a clothing label. We'll have some mad ass designs made especially for bands and musos. Its just an idea, but if u dont wanna do it now-ish im gonna do it when i have enough money to do it...which may be some years from now. If i can get it to pay my way through varsity that would be wicked.

ciao

band t-shirts are a must! who could concieve of a world without band t-shirts?

Band t-shirts rock.

Waspa... I'm not sure it would be easy thing to pull off. Not in Ch-ch anyway, but you'd definately have to aim it at NZers, not tourists.

thanks for the comments.
Do you think there is a market for me to survive on JUST NZ music?
