Jessie is amazing, no doubt. I've been her best mate for a few yrs now and have known her for even longer and there is no comparison with her voice to anybody else. Sure her guitar skills could do with a touch up but for the short amount of time she's been playing shes fantastic :D She has a definate future in signing and at the mo' she can't decide whether it'l be in the way of classical or jazz and if u ever get the chance to hear her sing clasical u will b knocked off your feet :) believe it or not she wasn't sure if she'd make it through the HEATS let alone come 3rd :p oh and she only decided on the very last day of entry that she was gonna do it because by going solo there is an extreme amount of pressure and anxiety!

yeah phoenics rising are interesting, but from the gig i saw were much more unrehearsed, looser, and unprofessional then the have, i mean the guitarist played like 3 songs with his guitar completely out of tune. he kept on trying to tune it up between songs but couldn't, then when he did manage to tune it it wasn't tuned to the bass. I wanted to run home grab a tuning pedal and bring it down for him. Fucking nice guys, and that is what matters.

Surely someone in one of the bands playing had one, or were the Have still in rockquest "all other bands are competition" mode and didn't want to help a fellow band out by lending them one?

The Have definately deserved to win. I get the feeling Phoenics are younger then 7th form, so hopefully they can come back again next year. I hope they don't give the guitarist too much of a hard time for his tuning probs, it is a band issue, and they need to practise heaps more before they are as tight as the have, or they could flag the quest, hook up with other rockquest band "beatniks foundation" and come down here to wellington and play with the phoenix foundation...what a gig, ha,ha

I wasn't hasseling the name, i was making an observation on those bands names's similarity to the phoenix foundation in wellington. geez, no need to get all defensive.

They were cool, i was just pointing out that for them to try again next year, and they could find another drummer...they need to be prepared for every gig, which includes having at least 1 tuning pedal (even one of those nasty $30 jobs) in a band, especially if playing major copmpetition like the RQ.

shit, read my post again, i liked them, they were good dudes, just lacked the professionalism to win, however with practise there is no reason they can't do so next year.

but they better watch out, cause i might enrol back in school, and then my one man band would kick their ass:)

from what i hear, they have management and have been signed to universal. Their Single and video are being released very soon.

my exihibition is gonna be the shit. got 40 enlargements on the cooker today. gonna have plenty of unreleased and released welly music playing. unreleased stuff like some tracks from the the upcoming marystaple and nouveau riche albums and much more i'm finalising tomorrow. I'm sure some vocoder will be hitting the blink radio at some stage during the evening. as well as of course a pavement tribute with the DVD everyone is gagging to see.
