You got a point there about student radio mate - Jeez, all this "cutting edge dub/d&b/house/techno/whatever" crap gets to me too. Still, I pine for the old days of Channel Z Wellington (the station channel z used to be in welly before John Diver was made redundant and those bastards Impey and Clamp stuffed things up by networking the Auckland program). It used to be a truly unique station playing non-repetitive GOOD music. Nothing fancy, no bells or whistles, no "listener parties" - just great tunes. Over the past couple years or so it's become a Top 40, teeny-bopper rock hits station, complete with all the rap-metal and post-grunge you can stomach. Plus, there's that awful Bomber - one of the most pretensious bastards I've ever come across. He calls his show "the voice of NZ youth" (or something along those lines) yet he only seems to talk about what he's interested in, and hangs up on any caller who criticises him. His audience (definetly 12-15 year-olds - mostly female, it seems) think he's some sort of a god because he "swears" on the radio (isn't this just so "cool"?) and gives them permission to deface election billboards, tag "witty" slogans like "sink the ship" around town and hate figures of authority. Kids, for the love of god, talk to your parents or school guidence councillor about your troubles (or isn't that "cool" enough for you?), and NOT to some fake-o like Bomber. Sorry about that rant. Channel z sucks.

P.S. - channel z has the highest content of NZ music on air? By george, you may be right - the feelers, zed, tadpole...and other unoriginal examples of "quota filler".

um, would ALL teens and adults enjoy and relate to channel z? That's a rather general comment there, mate - it is definetly not the station to end all stations - or, then again, maybe you've been brainwashed too. Channel z appeals neither to the true innovator nor to the serious music appreciator.

at last,someone agrees that channel z in sh1t,the jump on the wagon try to make funny adds but we cant so we will inject our own egos into every single thing we do,ala channel z is the big day out,could they please p1ss off.As for the Coleman sessions,ahhhhhh!!!

Old Z was excellent, newish Z is so so.
