past experiance has revealed that guys with big kits are usually more into their
drums than what they are doing on / with their drums ie: not into the music so much,

It really depends what the gig is, & what I need.
Some it might be just a basic 4 or 5 drums with 4 cymbals
and then there's the Hamish Kilgour ...
and then there's the Hamish Kilgour approach - one tom, floor tom, kick drum, a crash, a ride, a snare.
i'm not sure about Peter Jeffries' kit - i'm too busy being flabbergasted to take any notice of what he's playing. or should that be past-tense - last saw him play at the Empire (was it supporting the Able Tasmans?) about 3 years ago.

was reminded again of Peter Jefferies last night when seeing the Hollow Grinders play. their drummer is absolutely incredible. he's the only person i've ever seen who seems capable of matching the perfect precision and utterly controlled monumental fury of PJ.
very enjoyable gig! shrugs were pretty good too, but very overshadowed (ha! pun!) by the HGs.
