i think new zealand is a good place to start a counter culture. but it already has an underground counter culture - do you want that to become larger and more popular? i don't know how likely that is going to be and if it would achieve anything. because sadly the business world rules our government because they pay most of the governments salaries so the government licks their arses in return. i guess it is possible to start a counter culture, because a culture is not about bank balances, it is above all about values and beliefs. so a counter culture would be good, but then there is no way it could amount to anything substantial because substance is measured by money and if it became substantial it would then be money and then it would all be back at the beginning again. i think the beauty created from the ever growing capitalist, or neo-liberal perspective is that it creates financially disadvantaged minorities who don't get the $$$ and can see what more life has to offer than a pretty looking bank statement. and believe me - i am not a capitalist or a neo-liberalist by any stretch of the imagination. utopia is impossible. i like the idea that i can be part of a minority who appreciates and encourages great music. i don't know if it matters if the great musicians and the best songs ever stay underground, if i can still be a part of some of them. that's the beauty in it all. that you love this great fucking music that not many people will get the priviledge, and it is a fucking priviledge, to hear. i don't think i can give your comments the justice they deserved with this response simply for lack of knowing how to put what i mean into words. i hope this is comprehensible.
