Forums: The Bar,

hitler designed the volkswagen beetle

No wonder its a piece of shit

yeah and Fanta is a Nazi invented beverage. When sanctions against the facist regime disallowed Coke to be imported, some Coke-head German created Fanta to fill the gap.

siemens constructed the gas chambers and IBM provided the punch card technology to keep records on the jews.

hitler was a postcard painter from austria

Hitler had the firm belief that New Zealanders lived in the trees...

he also had only one testicle

and ferdinand (sp?) porsche designed the beetle at the request of hitler, before he was fired by volkswagen and started his own car company.

Charles Manson and Hitler were both vegetarians.

So vegetarians are mass murders, explains everything!!

hehehe...vegetarian debates always make me laugh :)

//> vegetarian hence VEGE
according to http://vegsoc.wellington.net.nz:
"Vegetarian" does not ... confine one to "Vegetables". //

One would assume I knew this already being a vegetarian!

//why are vegetarians so hostile? must be their diet. //

I really do not think this is due to diet. I for example am admittedly pretty angry at certain things...but thats pretty freakin' generalised Aka.

//pitchblack, my issue wasn't what you define as vegetarians. it was that you were abusing people who asked you if you ate chicken and fish. my point was that heaps of people do that sorta thing, so it's valid for them to ask you that.//

No Jimi, I do not go around 'abusing' people as you say I do! I explain to people to make them more aware of just what a vegetarian or a vegan is I dont say 'fukk off you ignorant moron find it out yourself'... although I may of implied that I just tell people that they are losers this is not the case...but cant you understand from my point of view that it can get slightly annoying the ignorance towards being a vegetarian. Like being told to go and eat a steak, and shit like that. It is beyond being funny, it is ignorance, about something very important to me.

//carl, i'd guess that they have better teeth because the parents that make their kids vegetarians are more vigilant about what their kids eat. If you're gonna be careful/paranoid enough to ban your kids from taking important things like iron in, you're far less likely to be a parent who lets your kids have heaps of lollies and coke all the time and not clean their teeth...... //

Well really your post just says it all...ignorance again Jimi. The MAJORITY of vegetarians I know find other means apart from animal by-products, and derivatives fo sourcing iron. Not all vegetarian/vegan parents deny their children of such things, instead they probably have to work a little harder to find other ways of getting such things for themselves and their children.
I am appalled at what you have to say about some things, it is evident to me that you generally have a lack of understanding about vegetarianism.

NO JOE...I am a bitch and am not taking my cruel and harsh comments back EVER!! joking kids...
I always get mocked for being vegetarian, but I really dont think that it is that strange, the majority of my friends are either vegan or vegetarian, even my boyfriend is vegetarian. It is something that I believe in deeply, and I get dissed for it because I dont consume flesh. I mean fukk, each to their own. I really dont care if people eat meat and stuff, I did too once up until anout 5-6 years ago. Some people have a really ignorant point of view about being a vegetarian or whatever, thinking that I am some dirty, hairy hippy, sipping cactus juice and softening chicpeas for a living...it is hillarious, when people ask me if I eat fish and chicken...its like fukk loser they are animals too. Some people have no idea. Just for the record punks I have nothing against meat eaters, it just aint my bag.

blah blah blah, meat is murder...

Heads up, kiddies: Humans are omnivores. We are physiologically designed to require nutrients from meat and vegetables both.

And murder tastes yummy.

http// ]

pitchblack,

you gotta learn to take a joke. maybe it doesn't come across very well on a forum, and I've fallen for that myself(eh velocity?), so I understand how it could be misunderstood, but the hostile comment was a joke. and although my icon looks like Aka's, I dont want to give Aka a bad name unintentionally, it was me who made the hostile comment.

your educational approach leaves mcuh to be desired. some people here have asked valid questions, obviously looking for clarification, and your response has included the word 'ignorant' more times than necessary.

//"Vegetarian" does not ... confine one to "Vegetables". //
//One would assume I knew this already being a vegetarian!

yes, one would assume so, but not, since you have repeatedly called people ignorant for asking clarification on just that question.

Oh, god, Squared, don't get me started on Canadian Vegetarians!! People are going to start thinking I'm an ignorant redneck American!

Do you eat sheep as much as you are one Velocity?

blah blah blah, meat is murder...

Are you blatantly stating the obvious with this super intelligent comment as well?

//but thats pretty freakin' generalised Aka.??????????????

I parent a Lactarian- veggie and a meatarian (as he calls himself) so I would never comment in such a silly debate

Firstly, I am very sorry Aka. Naughty of me. Sorry again...same icon ya know...

Now Squared, fukk I just dont know I want to give up. With the ignorance issue, it is not a very big stretch of the imagination. I have met so many people that have no idea about vegetarianism...ignorance is the key word of my replys for that very obvious reason. That people are ignorant. Perhaps I shouldn't expect you to understand.
As for my comments to Jimi, I just do not feel that when I say I am vegetarian, that I should have to back it up all the time. I am constantly justifying myself about not eating meat, and why I dont. You wouldn't understand unless you have been in that situation. I can try and explain my diet to people until I am blue in the face, and some people still do not understand. One thing I pride myself on is not preaching to people that eat meat...I do not tell them that they are wrong, weird or disgusting, because I know precisely how it feels. It is none of my business if their ethics etc, are different to mine. My whole family eats meat and I respect that. The piss gets taken out of me all the time, it just seems somewhat backwards. Like whatever happened to ' each to their own'? It does not affect other people if I chose not to eat meat, so why do people think that they are affected by my actions, and then get on the defence and be rude, and have meat jokes, and laugh about it...there just gets to a point where you just get angered after a certain time.
//meh go the vegetarians...as for you filthy meat consuming maggots, well I dont know.// and before anything says something about this post, I am totally joking, it was just funny to reverse the situation for a change.

Perhaps, I have over-used the word ignorant a little, I apologise. There are some very intelligent and open minded people on this forum, that perhaps wanted a little clarification. I understand that completely, I am aware of that. But it is funny that some people with half assed facts and figures come back at me, when I am the one that is a vegetarian. This is also why I gave the link to the vegetarian society because it gives an unbiased and non critical point of view, because my response to many people is very emotional.

This is def. not the first time that I have had this debate, def. not...time and time again...I tell you, time and time again.

And squared I def. can take a joke, and I realise that it is very difficult to sometimes sense sarcasm (hence my justification for one of my post a while back), but sometimes, when you are a little stirred up already it is so easy to jump on the ol' bandwagon and have a good old bitch.

Thanks for your time

Yeah, it's wrong to mock someone 'cos they don't eat meat. It's a lifestyle/values choice & everyone has a right to choose. It is also wrong for a vegetarian to criticize someone for eating meat.
Can we just leave it at that everyone?

come on, i was joking about the paranoid thing. i have a condition that when someone gets worked up over something that they thought i implied, i have a bit of a tease. im not showing my ignorance - im a firm believer in each to their own......

just thought i should make you think a little when you said "its like fukk loser they are animals too" as my family is a contributor to that situation.

in addition, i was actually giving veggies a backhanded compliment. they ARE more likely to keep their kids away from shit food - which is a great thing!!! the rest of the statement was just stirring. hook, line and sinker ;)

mmmm i like steak, i like it still bleeding, mmmmmmm steak

steak with bacon on top is even nicer

//people ask me if I eat fish and chicken...its like fukk loser they are animals too.

my parents eat fish, but not chicken and they call themselves veggies. i know heaps of people that do it. so it's kinda a valid question.....

yea...i kinda have to go with pitchblack a little on that one. im also constantly asked why im a vegetarian and why i don't eat meat. it gets quite frustrating after a while. and then once you've explained all that to people, they ask if you eat chicken and fish - which i also see as 'meat'...so i sympathise with you pitchblack, as i know how annoying it can be!!! but then again people are only curious - so i try to get my piont across without sounding like a whining lefty vege hippy freak (even if i am actually one ;) )

Its funny hows this thread turned into a whole different topic!!

Well sweet, I apologise for being a little offensive to your fam. jimi.

I find that people take me altogether too seriously when I say things like that. Sarcasm doesn't come off too well in print.

I was a vegetarian for four years, but god help me, I just loved the taste of it and had to come back.

//my parents eat fish, but not chicken and they call themselves veggies. i know heaps of people that do it. so it's kinda a valid question..... // Not really Jimi, a vegetarian does not eat any type of flesh, just because fish do not have legs does not make them a living creature. So no, if you eat fish, you are not a vegetarian. It is terribly hypocritical to eat one and not another unless it is for dietry reasons. So really it isn't a valid question if people were not so ignorant to what a VEGEtarian is & was! (vegetarian hence VEGE) Making a little more sense now?

umm, pitchblack I know some people who eat chicken and fish but no red meat and consider themselves vegetarians.

ho hum,

Pollo- veggie (vegitarian) that eats poultry, but not seafood and meat
Pesca- veggie that eats seafood, but not poultry and meat
Ovolactarian- veggie that doesn't eat poultry, seafood, or meat
Lactarian- veggie that doesn't eat poultry, seafood, meat, or eggs
Vegan- veggie that doesn't eat use any products from animals
Herbivores- eat only plants
Fruitarians- eat fruits and vegatables only
Grainivores- only eat grains, nuts, and seeds

> It is terribly hypocritical to eat one and not another unless it is for dietry reasons.

the only reason i ever thought made sense is because you dont like the taste. plants are living things too.

I'd also like to point out that fruitarians only eat fruit that has fallen off its tree. No murdering oranges for your school lunches allowed.

As for hypocritical - it's all a matter of interpretation. Some people would think it hypocritcal of someone to disclaim eating a cow while wearing one on their feet.

//umm, pitchblack I know some people who eat chicken and fish but no red meat and consider themselves vegetarians.//
well let me rephrase, the majority of vegetarians I know are very strict vegetarians. No gelatine & NO MEAT. I hardly eat dairy because of dietry reasons...no eggs blah, vegetarian renant cheese, I drink soy milk, and eat soy ice cream.
I just do not believe that somebody that classes themselves as a vegetarian can still eat certain types of meat, that is not a vegetarian in my books, or what my friends believe. Thats just fukked up. People I know like that are 'vegetarian' because its hip & cool or something. Where as I believe it is a way of life and an understanding.

//the only reason i ever thought made sense is because you dont like the taste. plants are living things too//
that is a purely idiotic statement. yes plants are living organisms, but not ones that bleed, have a heart and brain. animals get slaughtered for consumption for humans, and I dont believe that is right. And I also do not enjoy the taste, it make me want to gag. but overall its the cruelty that gets me, I just believe that it is inhumane.
And joe I try and by non-animal products...that goes for shoes also...

//ho hum,

As for you noizyboy, I believe your definitions are wrong, so ah ho hum, check out the website below.

http://vegsoc.wellington.net.nz/ ]

This what I believe and this is straight from the vegetarian website link above;

The Basic Vegetarian - Who eschews(avoids) meats, fish & fowl
The Vegan - Who uses no food, clothing, soaps, cosmetics etc w/ animal products.

So there goes.

i bow down to the superior wisdom of welly vege soc.

although, I can't see where our definititions diverge? Your "Basic Vegetarian" is just an Ovolactarian (or a Lactarian, depending on your stance on eggs).

this is good too:
Comparative medical and dental studies prove that children raised as vegetarians, on the type of recommended natural whole-foods, have incomparably better teeth

//your kinda strange if you don't eat meat anyway //...
Take that back fukkface...

Grrrrr

Hahaha yeah take it back.

Its quite cool how theres a few vegetatians on these forums. It always feels like i'm the only one out of millions of cranivores;)

"I have a CraZy friend who doesn't eat meat. Is he CraZy?"
"No! Just ignorant."

;-) I love The Simpsons

hehe, I remember that episode

pitchblack, my issue wasn't what you define as vegetarians. it was that you were abusing people who asked you if you ate chicken and fish. my point was that heaps of people do that sorta thing, so it's valid for them to ask you that.

i dont doubt that, i was just interested that a comparative study found that the difference was incomparable, and that this was a good thing.

oooo...u better not be hassling veggies tama.....

no...... but what Jenni :o) said, it kinda sounded like it. (sound??)
your kinda strange if you don't eat meat anyway

maybe the meat-eaters are the strange ones :P

meh go the vegetarians...as for you filthy meat consuming maggots, well I dont know.
