Yeh, you sure are Jody Lloyd, you sure are buddy. Remember that time you told me about how, backstage at a Dark Tower gig, you saw Hugh Sundae giving some guy a blowjob on coke? That was a cool story!

HAHAHAHAHA - DON'T MAKE ME LAUGH! i dont think i have ever seen him at a dark tower gig, remember taking into consideration we havent had a dark tower gig in about 3 years HAHA!
THAT is the lamest comeback I have ever heard, I have come to respect you Jody but now I have lost my faith in your ability to make up defamatory lies about wanker Djs who sound surprisingly alot like the ZM Breakfast Crew. That is all I have to say about that. Now, I am gonna play at the temple on both Sun 29th and Mon 30th of September, do you want to come and see me kick some shitty Auckland ass around the stage or are you still scared? Snoochie Boochies.

Hi Rebecca, dunno if you still want this but I thought it would be a good excercise in waking up this morning and coz perhaps it might inspire me to write something today.
Lucy
>1. what inspires your music?
My life, personal politics, sometimes I write about others but I find it usually ends up being about me. I have tried to comment on social issues but it all ends up being about moi. I write when stuff happens in my life that my mind and heart dont seem to be able to handle and I guess writing is like a pressure release valve. Its my therapy. I have, and do write happy songs but generally happiness doesnt inspire me to write as I'm too busy being happy... dig? My heroes are people like Bob Dylan, Jeff Buckley, Dave Mathews, Adam Duritz , Radiohead etc and I see the same pattern in their songwriting as well.
>2. How did you guys get together i the first place?
I am the King of St. Lucy, everything happens because I am a control freak and make it happen. The band , management and record label are all involved because I wanted them involved. Its not as yucky as it reads, I mean they are all people that I love and respect, but lets face it, I'm the talent.
>3. what are you trying to achieve with your music?
My goal is to be able to fill a stadium with people sitting down and silently intent on the words to the songs, not interested in me or coca cola or beer or ciggarettes or the person next them, purely wrapped in their own thoughts and guided by something that is being sung to them that they can relate to. Of course they would all have to be naked. I dunno, I hope to be able to A: write at least one hit song, not crappy feelers hit, but like U-Fucking-2 hit, so that my kids will never want for anything again and B: Live the lifestyle I have dreamed of since I was a kid, I guess I'm doing that now. So one out of two aint bad huh?
>4. If you could do a Pacifier and sellout to make millions would you? What
>would it take?
Dunno, Pacifier have done things the old way, I think that the datsuns have shown us that bands do not have to be at the mercy of record labels. Hamiltons original scene is and has been a far cry from that of Auckland, Welly and Chch in that we have kinda always had to fend for ourselves, I think that has made hamilton spawned acts a little more akin to the old dunedin "do it yourself and then set it all on fire and vomit on it" spirit. I would take the money if there was enough freedom attached to it.
>5. Waht are you making music for? The glory, cuase you love it, money?
All three. People in Audiences love to see you succeed, they love to see someone who is good at what they do. Glory is great, its not the classic kind here, its a bit more subtle, its the guy who anonymously emails the next day or stops you on the way to the loo after your set and saids something nice, its the girl who buys cds and then forces her mates to listen to them until they love your music. Glory in NZ is cool because we, as a nation are too reserved to dish it out to the unworthy. I love this , its my life, I have no back up plan, I do not want one. Money. Yuck.
>6. What is your ultimate goal as a band?
To get on the paul holmes show and so a prostate examination on him live to air. I would also like to have a 6-some with Tim Finn and his wife.
>7. What do you think abotu the NZ music scene at the moment?
Everyone is too precious, too trend based and too oriented by old has beens who decide what goes on radio. Fuck em, why should it be like that. Everyone is tip toeing around people in power, WE are the singers of new songs, we are the people with the product that makes these fuckers rich and WE are the ones who are having the most fun in this game, the balance in this industry is fucked. However, there is some great stuff too, The Brunettes seem to be doing something completely fresh and yummy, Hip Hop seems to be exploding into all genres (Good? Bad? who cares) The Feelers are FUCKING FINALLY looking like calling it quits.
>8. What bands influence you? Who do you listen to?
Oh, I said before, Dave Mathews, Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, Iron Maiden, Ac/Dc, Bob Marley, Rumpus Room, Counting Crowes, Greg Johnson, David Gray, Therapy, Primus, Marylin Manson, EMINEM! (Fuck he is cool!!!!) Dave Dobbyn, The Sex Pistols. I gues sexpistols, jeff Bob dylan and acdc are the most prevalent tho.
>9. When you guys are not playing what are you doing?
I have younguns so I'm usually with them, I dunno what the others do, who cares, I guess they work.....
>10. where did the name come from?
St. Lucy? Well, it came from my head, Lucy Lawless was at one of her sisters shows in auckland and she bumped into me (quite by accident) but I wore an entire glass of cab merlot on a white T-Shirt. I had only come up from hamilton for the night and it was all I had to wear so I spent the rest of the night looking like a fucking idiot. So all my energy during the show, went into imagining Lucy Lawless in several different stages of decomposition, Xena-DEAD warrior princess... dig.... "St. Lucy"

Hi, been in a daze for a month or so, made some people cry and made some people not really feel anything anymore. Maybe me too. I think, for what it's worth, that through words and music, I wear my life/heart on my sleave. Have never been affraid to be what I am, never have been afraid to write about what I am. I'm sorry. See you guys next summer with new songs and maybe some stories from band camp...
