Squeeze

Masturbation is the Safest sex.

Squeeze just told me that “The Decepticonz” are the best band in NZ, apparently so. Yay, is this where NZ music is going? Great, we, as a country, look and sound like America. That’s comforting, I guess all the other industries in New Zealand reflect American culture, why shouldn’t the music bizzo follow suit? What if someone who disagrees with our music flys a 747 into Neil Finn in protest? That would be stink. Why did that guy wear his handbag on stage? Did it contain special things that he needed? Ventolin or something. AND, he had obviously gone to sleep the night before wearing his hat and then forgotten coz when he awoke on th day of the “Squeeze” shoot, he put on ANOTHER hat, on top of the one he was already wearing. Silly boy. I liked the T-Shirts tho, reminded me, kinda, of how Supergroove used to all, kinda , wear the same thing. They were tight, VERY tight, and the small clip from their video led me to believe that they were actually kinda cool. But I found the performance to be dull, lifeless and pretty contrived. Yawn. If I was asked to pay money to see a couple of hours of this I would probably drop something that rhymes with “E” and pretend to have a good time, just like the ravers do. New Zealand music really needs to lift its head out of MTV and into a different space. The “Trinity Roots” interview (sic) was really cool. Honest chaps, I would rather have seen a performance from them. I really would.

Rockist.

Moan moan moan moan moan. Come along to the Aotearoa HipHop summit and see what little evils New Zealand born emcees have been up to. Damn us all for liking an American music genre like HipHop - lucky for the rest of us Rock was created in new Zealand.

He he he, nice one! Would LOVE to do that! Thanks for the invite, yay! Where, when, and how much? Rock wasn't invented in NZ tho my friend, it was invented by The Beatles and Bob Dylan (Who also had a hand in Hip-Hop too I believe) and George Clinton, Bootsy Collins and Co. and other kind folks too. Mutton Pies were invented in New Zealand tho, and the Aeroplane too, if you believe the Richard Pearce story. Gotta run, this topic is kinda boring the crap outa me. 8 ft Sativa? Well, that was unexpected, I guess I should have watched the whole show instead of catching the very end huh? Don't forget to listen to "Live At Helens" ok? Oh yeh, don't forget to catch Trinity Roots sometime too. AND Cornerstone Roots too, fuck man, saw them last week, they are WICKED! I think the perfect way to unite Aotearoa "Rock" and Aotearoa "Hip-Hop" would be for Supergroove to do a victory lap this summer. THAT would be a show I would like to see! Get "Four Corners" and "8 Ft Sativa" to play support slots, YOU LITTLE FUCKEN BEAUTY!

The beatles and Bob Dylan? So what did Elvis play? I always thought Little Richard was responsible it.

The summit is being held in Auckland from 4th to the 5th of Otcober. It'll incorporate the NZ National ITF finals as well as Disrupt the System.

As far as your boredom with the topic goes - you started this thread.

Seeing as you seem to like Trinity Roots, you'll probably be pleased to know that it was in fact them who won 'Best Band' on the Squeeze Awards.

If you want to view the show in entirety, it's on again on Thursday night at 11.30

i love you

i reckon they looked a little bored - and i also reckon the beatles were one of the first to use hiphop beats (check out sample on pauls botique) and i also reckon that bob dylan was one of the, if not the first poet/rapper...
check out some of his 64-69 stuff sometime rimoni. you might be surprised. peac

Thanks for the info horsearmour - I'll check it out.
