I got it:) I haven't listened to it a hell of alot yet, but what i've heard seems pretty good. Quite liked "Semi-Normal" and "Walls" but i'll have to play it a bit more and see.
if for some reason you have not been able to get out to get the cd, tune into National Radio tonight at 11 (wait for the news to be over) to hear tracks from, and a interview with Pacifier about, the new album
Repeated tomorow just after the 3.oo news........

got it, listened to most of it at the shop. just about to crank it up at home.
some of the songs tingled my spine first bloody listen - some, especially later in the album, seemed a bit weaker but for someone that usually takes ages to grow into cd's, the fact that i like songs straight off is a good sign for the ol' 'had.
name change has nothing to do with the music. people can use it as a symbol for the decline in music if they wish but anyone who tries to blame music on a band's name is a nutter.
The new "pacifier" album sounds like Shihad no doubt. I listened to a couple of seconds of every song and it was kinda like Killjoy/General Electric just with a american touch to it. I listened to all of "Walls" and I think it was the best song on it! I gave me the chills since I was addicted to it on my first listen.
did anyone else notice how "trademark" just sounds like grinspoons "ready 1" just in a different key and slowed down very slightly. and "coming down" is a bit disturbinly oasis wonderwallish.
but......fuck i am impressed by the album, much respect. Still got the big giant riffage and awesome vocals of all shihad stuff. I reckon it's an album worth getting. especially while the bonus disc is available.
The cover art reminds me of the D4 a wee bit (yellow on red) and the silhouette on the back (and the fact tom is wearing a D4 t-shirt in the inside sleeve photo). But i'm just being a pedantic bitch. All in all i reckon i'm gonna end up warming to this one, my resignations have been vanquished. It does have an americanish slick production feel to it, but in this case i don't think that is a bad thing.
I hope american fuckwit nu-metal bands crank up semi-normal and see how big mother fucking rock is meant to sound.
but it doesn't, take a listen bro, it's alot better then your favourite oasis records. I can't get semi normal out of my head. It sounds like shihad but a natural progression from GE.
I'm with J-po... it is still Johnny and the boyz, but they're making music that sounds more like Helmet than ever. Don't get me wrong- loving it- and historically they've always redefined themselves a little more with each new release. Maybe if I was american I'd find a lot more to like about this new band called Pacifier, I'd hear the riffage and vox and wonder where they'd been all my life. I'd hunt down their back catalogue, learn the history and put all the pieces together... 'Weapons of Mass Destruction' however, now that's a little different! I really enjoyed the way it's been mixed, quite different to the other CD. The songs are much more aggressive. Good effort, full credit, game of two halves, etc.
farkin hell. first full listen to both cd's this morning. jeeeeeesus
i'm in love with them. semi normal (not fuckin alright!!!!!!), number 5, fuckit, all the songs, are tempting me back for an unhealthy amount of listenings. weapons of mass destruction is a great comeback to all the 'uuuuh, nah ever since they changed their name they can't rock it out' dorks. its dirty freakin rock, right there in your eardrum.
agreed there are some arguable 'american' touches - for example distortion in semi normal is very deftonesish, but what do these comparisons achieve? nothing, its an amazing cd. also is it my imagination or is the main bullitproof riff alot like supa day?
can anyone tell me where that concert is in the inside sleeve? massive jump, must have been a crazy night.
lastly, a couple of interesting names under 'thanks (nz)' section, aye? ;)
yeah im slowly changing my mind about it, it does sound very shihad. i admit i was feelin a lil let down cause the CD seemed to lack that edge, but once i listened to it a couple of times and im really gettin into it.
have to say (again) i like weapons of mass destruction more though thats the sort of sound i thouhgt they were gonna release but i guess thats less marketable....
i'm liking it... ALOT --> i havent actually got it yet [pay day tonight *yay*] - but from what i've heard in the shops its one of those rare albums where you find yourself liking songs straight away without really listening to it....
to me it sounds different, yet - the whole shihad aspect is still there *grunt*. i don't like the fact that some of the songs sound really similar to each other though....
but so far, songs i'm liking:
- comfort me
- run
- bullet proof
- walls
You know how ur just thinkin about stuff and then u just think of some song lyrics, which just pop out of no-where??? well ive had 4 words butting in all day...
I'M NOT FUCKIN ALRITE!!!!!!!!!
i totally take back my earlier opinion, this album KICKS FUCKIN ASS i bloodly loving it!!!!
Run is just an awesome song
trademark is just a rockin song
ummm i don't wanna go thru each track cause they all rock hardcore, i just know pacifier will go places with this album
i just know it
"Run", "Walls" and " Semi-Normal" all rock, everything else is bloody excellent too.......truthfully I think "Comfort Me" is not the best.....but other than that......:D
Best thing about the CD to me is that not only are there no tracks I dislike (a rare thing in itself) but I postively like each and every song on it.
On the flip side, the only problem I have with it is that there are no songs yet that seem to rock as much as my favs from their older albums. (My Mind's Sedate, Lala Land, A Day Away and Interconnector to name a few.) Maybe I just need to listen to it a few more times... but then Interconnector has rocked my world from the moment I first heard the intro... guess I'll just have to wait and see. (Yeah I know that one's been done a million times already but I couldn't reist.)
My fav tracks off Pacifier atm (not in order) are:
Just a Shadow
Everything
Comfort Me
Semi-Normal
I'm quite liking the Weapons of Mass Destruction CD too.
Oh and I'm not saying they stole it or anything, but is it just me, or does the intro to Coming Down sound a lot like the intro to Superman's Dead by Our Lady Peace?
Don't say the things you said
Can't you see that way
I made a mistake
You've become a stranger to me now
You kept it all inside
Instead of letting it come out
Well to add my 2 cents in no particular order are the songs i stand up and dance and sing to
run (specially the chorus)
trademark
bulletproof
and my fav one has to be "nothing" i was just singin that all thru accounting today and everyone else was telling me to shut up, thats the one ive got on repeat right now, with bulletproof close behind
apparantly its not normal to suddenly start screaming the lyrics to a new song who no one has heard of in the middle of an economics lesson... oh well, economics wouldve been boring if it want for me singin & headbanging in my own special little way to semi-normal!!
HAHAHAHA!!!
did THAT today ;) singing along to semi-normal (we had a reliever) air guitar and all :D as someone said previously, its so hard to say "this song is the best" cause they're also good!!!
and to those out there who say its just hype and new listeners getting into it, i own a large collection of most of the cds shihad/pacifier have released. i originaly didn't like the new CD much, but after a long listen at loud vloumes i changed my mind, this was without any outside influence!!! cept my dad who kept tellin me to turn it down ;)
well i must be at round 10 cents now so i mite take a rest :D
got it yesterday, and its what i hoped it would be. since "the general electric" shihad/pacifier have been my favourite band.. so i guess i'm a bit of a new fan- my favourite album is Killjoy- the one released when i was 9 years old! ha.
