THE FUCKEN CHILLS

RHCP – By The Way (Warners)

Well, I dunno about you but I have had a shitty last few months. TWO breakups; one recent and one like a broken ankle that has never really set. SO, it was opportune that a girl should buy me a copy of the new Chillis album. Remember when you were sad and you listened to “Grace”? (if you don’t know, you never will) or even “August And Everything After” for hours and hours. Well, this is gonna be one of THOSE albums. I’m not gonna wank on about the fabulous guitar tone or how cool it is that John is back and they sound like the “Old” chillis. These ARE the “OLD” Chillis, literally. I wanna look at the songwriting. Sobering and soulful, these are the words of a bunch of people who have seen just about everything that the Rock n Roll life has to offer. Here we see a diary of the ups and downs of a career spanning 3 decades in the bizzo, warts and all., “On the day my best friend died I couldn’t get my carpet clean” is not a lyric that is casually included in a song to make time, y’know? It’s a beautiful album that creeps up on you like all the best albums do. I never got my hands on “Californication” untill the hits were established and I am glad that I LOVE all these songs BEFORE hit radio gets its grubby mitts on it. YAY GUYS! Yay.

Forums: The Bar,

Sorry to hear stuff has not been good for you, man, but what new Chills album? Where from?

Im guessing that was Typo for "Chili" not "Chill". Damn shame, a new Chills album wouldnt go down too badly.

RHCP 'By The Way' be is way mellow, no 'Suck My Kiss' or 'Give It Away' on that album, but it is a good album.
I understand why they aren't doing same 'funk' thing, because it gets boring for them playing the same type of stuff for 20 years
Flea isn't even doing what he's normally doing, don't really hear any bass solos on this album, which can be a good thing.

and all this time i hadnt realised it was spelt like "CHILI" not "CHILLI"

yes only one 'L'

wow... i never realised that either...

Anyone going to the concert/s?

yeah, maybe going to the one in Auckland. hopefully it will ROCK!

Hopefully, if I safe up enough money

i heard it was expensive, how much is it exactly?

$80 from what I hear

there's 2 types of tickets u can get
firstly there are one's for an area called the 'chili bin' which from what i can gather is a kind of inclosed area right near the stage. those tickets are $115.
then there are your general admission tickets for $75 or something similar.
so yeah...

It is alot, set some kind of record...

Ten years ago I failed bursary geography because I went to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers play the night before a big assignment was due.

Just thought I'll tell you that I've got that concert on video!!

Hey have you guys heard of a 60s song 'Teenager In Love' ??
The Chili's did a cover of this song, its a B-Side on their 'By The Way' single.
I laughed the first time I heard it, my parents like that song!!
And they did it the same way!! Its sounds a lot like the 60's

Is that the one that goes "each night I ask the stars up above, why must I be a teenager in love"?
