I thought I would gather all the instructions together in one place cos I'm still seeing posts like this one // I haven't worked out how to get to chat (shame on me I know), so here you are folks....
1 use the shout cast link.
2 you will get a pop up window asking if you want to down load the jIRC applet.... [yes] you do
3 A yellow and white screen will come up with shoutcast in big letters along the top.
4 in the nick name field/box put your nzm log on name... don't leave as guest as some chatters get a bit cross with unknown guests. leave the other fields as they are. click on [Connect Now]
5 the yellow and white screen swaps for a blackand white one click on [connect], the black box will now fill with
*** NOTICE AUTH :*** Looking up your hostname...
*** NOTICE AUTH :*** Checking Ident
*** NOTICE AUTH :*** Found your hostname
then there will be a wee wait while it fluffs about then the screen will fill with more white words
you should see your name listed as being in shout cast
6 in the dialogue box at the bottom type exactly this /join #NZMusic [enter]
7 you are now in the chat room.
you may be on your own for a while but hang round for a bit someone may turn up.
If you already have a IRC programme this is the sever and port info
Connecting to irc.landoleet.org (6667)
Channel name NZMusic.
This chat was set up while we waited for chat on nzm proper, it's not the flashest but it does the job. I have heard rumours of a Nzm member planning to make us a better one, and who knows Nzm may find just thing to build a proper one on the site,

definitely works on a Mac - depends on the browser however. works real nice on Netscape 4.x - basically if you have a browser with decent java capabilities you're ok. i've found that there are precious few java capable browsers for Mac OS X, bugger it, so I just use Fire, which is a shareware IRC/Chat client. it works a dream.
yes it was good tonight we had 9 uptill about 1. We had our first xpat tonight.... from denmark.
One thing came up was .... it would be nice while in chat to be able to look people up... ie search logon names to find out more about the person you are chatting with..... possible? useful if it could be done.
oh and a word was used to night alot in chat while talking about music..... someone did comment that is was not a good word to use as it could mean many things..... well have a look at this link.

tonight's mix is repeated tomorrow at 3.06 pm and Helen's is repeated the following Wednesday at 7:30 pm
