I have been living in Europe for 6 years, my fondest memories in HB involved catching bands such as HDU, Shihad, The Muttonbirds, Head Like A Hole and various local bands (Hanging Tree, Softcock Giraffes) in a number of wonderful venues (The Cabana, Druids Hall, The lion tavern)
It saddens me that a place like HB ignores good music, when the above venues have helped Hawkes Bay musicians like HDU, Pet from Breathe, and a mumber of other muso's that have yet to make their mark on the nation scene.
Stroll on Looma, although I have yet to hear you, may the force of local apathy become your fuel...

I remember The Cabana, I heard its now a strip club and bar run by some dodgy gang types.... we drove past it last summer and saw half naked women outside plying thier trade....eeiiww. I think theres still a strong musical presence there (HB) with recording studios etc starting up, but I don't know how the live scene is going though.

hmm, yeah, hb's venues are pretty much nonexistant, but ONE day sumthin might just be sorted out, until then, the gig my shihad, betchadupa, furpatrol etc down @ east pier was a good idea... once they FINALLY decided 2 let under 18's in!

He was always interested in helping HB up and coming bands.
I did a NZ music show on Kidnappers Radio in Hastings for a year or so, playing alot of HB bands, which got a good response, is there still an outlet like that for the public to hear local sounds?
