Okay so I get this email in my inbox. "Someone likes you !!! Come to this website, guess who it is, you may have a match!!!"
Fair enough, I should just ignore stuff like this, specially since I'm (happily) in a longterm relationship but curiosity got the better of me.
Turns out you have to enter like a million guesses by entering their first name and email addresses. You guessed it, all these people got the same message as I got. "Go to this website, someone likes you!!!!"
All it is, I can gather, is some bullshit super database creator. So DON'T let curiosity get the better of you and do yourself and your whole address book a favour and avoid this site if you get an email.
Anyone else had a problem like this?

By the way, they never did tell me who put my name up for it in the first place, and since I entered every single person I know had that email address, it seems highly unlikely that there was ever a person at all.
:D
I'd suggest you're right in saying ...
I'd suggest you're right in saying there was no such person - somehow your email addy/name has been harvested and they're just playing a game with you, playing on your curiosity as to who your admirer might be and so getting a whole bunch more email addresses from you. I had a couple of these emails myself but since I'm such an impossible old bastard, knew it was fake straight up :) - actually, I was a little piqued, but as soon as I was aksed to play the guessing game, backed off.

Yeah well this was the third time I got such an email before I bothered to act on it cos I thought it would be such a game.
But after getting three emails about it in a week I thought... hey maybe this IS for real.
Curiosity ALWAYS kills the cat.

I had the same problem on a site called acrushonyou.com. I thought it was a really nice idea until I realised that every single person I guessed got an email. Their theory is that you'll only guess people that you have a crush on, so they send out emails on your behalf. Flawed logic. There's a whole bunch of people I don't like who would be among the first people I'd guessed.
They were actually quite open about their policies, but usually by the time you get to reading the FAQs, you've already spammed your entire address book. Bastards.

Yep, I've been getting tons lately. But, I think it's not instant... Maybe in a few hours/days whatever.. You're gonna get an e-mail "You Have A Match!" That's what my friend got, after sending it to everyone :( grrrrr
Yeah I sent it to a few people last ...
Yeah I sent it to a few people last night... I know some of them got them pretty much instantly (thru the wonders of MSN)...
Then this morning it was "YOU HAVE A MATCH!!!" But they were asking for 5 more email addresses before they'd tell me.
I gave up.

ahh - theres that one, and there are a couple more that i really, really, REALLY hate:
the - tee-shirt one. basically...you sign up five of your 'friends' email addys, and then - as soon as all them have signed up you 'get a free tee-shirt'...thing is tho - they send ya heaps of spam, reminding you to enter firends addys and stuff, and your friends addys never actually go thru - my friend tried to sign up and it wouldnt go thru.
the other one i hate is the 'perfect partner' quiz ...where you do the quiz to find your perfect match...and they ask you stupid questions about your sexuality *personal*...and instead of giving you your 'perfect match' you get this window comes up with "YOU'VE been tricked! - all the information you have just entered has gone to the person who entered your email address into the site *blah blah blah*"...
yes - there was a time when i was gullible on the net...*shudders*
Ha ha - that one's so funny, Jenni, ...
Ha ha - that one's so funny, Jenni, the perfect partner thing! There was another one circulating a while ago, saying there was this new web based technology that allowed your computer monitor to take your photo, click here to do so - came back with a photo of an ape. Several people I know got caught out by that.
half of these things are incredibly ...
half of these things are incredibly hillarious tho...they are a good pick-me-up, or a good fucker-offerish type thing (depends on ya mood really). he he.
ah that ape one is classy...i got that a couple of years ago - its pretty well thought out, yet sooo incredibly simple...
*still agreeing with martha here tho*
