Rockquest Regionals

So... I went to the Manawatu Regional Final last night.

The bands were surprisingly good. Although the band who won, Twink, were a bit 'nu-metally'. Slightly 'blech' but not too bad.

They get 10 bonus points for painting themselves black w/ neon flames.

I thought that there were other bands who, musically, were a lot more original than them, but that's just a matter of opinion...

Obligatory Crowd Whine: As I've said, the music was good. However, the crowd can suck my skinny white ass. It was the Summer Jam all over again. Teen whore central.
Why would anyone wear a boob-tube to a concert ? Okay... it was only the Rockquest... but still.
If you are going to spend half of the show with your tongue lodged down your boyfriend/girlfriend's throat, at least don't do it IN THE MOSH PIT. Argh.

So, who's been to any of the other regionals ? Any brilliant bands ? etc etc

Ha ha ha... girls wear boob choobs and bikini tops to concerts so that the hormonally uncontrollable boys (or girls) can a) pull them down, b) undo the strings.. all going unnoticed of course. I agree, keep the MoshPits for moshing please.

i was at the christchurch regionals (i competed..)
Heaps of great bands... they had to expand the # of bands there from 14 to 20 because the talent was great. Good bands there - Far from luke, ample cleavage, phenox rising.. hollowed....sabiani... Was anyone else at the chch regionals... what do you think??

yeah dude i heard the talent in the chch region was amazing. which is great from a selfish point of view cos lots of really great bands would have not qualified, meaning less good competition for other regions qualifiers :)

heh yeah.. The new origionals were pretty plain...and they won. Phenox rising were 2nd though.. they were damn good

Well I went to the Hutt and Welly finals and I have to agree with everyone that the talent was pretty good - no matter what genre of music they were playing. There was some great cultural themed bands, as well as the usual angry satanic bands, poppy looking girls trying to be punk *erghmm Permafrost* but my award/s go to to of the Hutt final punk band "Sweet Mary Jane" (they got best original lyrics) and hardcore metal band "Reviled" (who got nowhere, but everyone loved) They may have got nowhere due to the fact that Ainslie Allen was judging errrrr
