Wellington Youth Rock Concert

i think that someone should spark up a welly youth concert with 1QA and Ejector and No Worse for Wear and 6th Density and shit. we can give them 1/2 an hour each and watch the rocken battle as 4 or 5 bands try to rock harder than each other. we can give it some kick arse name and charge like $5 at the door. 1QA and Ejector can pull the crowds and get some important gig practice and itll also be good exposure for the lesser known bands like NWFW and the like.

Forums: NZ Music,

Yeah and then when they've finished in Wellington, they can come up to Auckland to do the same thing. If it is promoted well, people will turn up.

like minded people. good to see. im only 17!!!! i cant promote it or anything myself. Blink, i know you do a bit of gig organising and the like. would you be able to organise anything like this? the road trip to dorkland sounds good. sounds like a bus should be hired and the bands would pile in and tour the north island or something. like on "almost famous. Blink, if u like this idea post a reply.

yeah...but not for a while. I am flat out for next 3 months trying to earn money so i can continue to slack around for the other 9 months of the year. Tours like that cost money dude. Try to play some gigs in welly before thinking about touring...However i am gonna put on a couple of kick ass all ages shows when ejector release their EP around August. send me a mail to ---- mulletblowgoats@blink.net.nz and i'll keep in touch bro.

You don't need to be trying to promote your own gigs straight off, send some emails to wellington bands you like...try to get some support gigs first, try to do some recording....rumour has it Zeal are doing some free recording for wellys top youth student bands...email Mat from the zeal site, say you are keen.

Talk to valve and indigo, just tell them you are keen to play any gig and they will throw you on a 4/5 band line up sometime. You gotta get some experience playing pubs before trying to organise your own gigs.

...

sweet bro. cheers for the advice. we actually got news of that zeal thing last week and we are gonna record a quick demo tomorrow on the schools 8-track. and hopefully get some time. maybe record a good demo then see what happens from there. we definately wanna keep playin though and will try and get a few support gigs over the next few months. it is hard to practice alot when u dont even have ur own drum kit though!!!!!

I'll put in the good word for you to mat at zeal. He does some nice work there, you'll get a really high quality demo, really good.

sweet man. we did that demo at school today. and for something we did with one member wagging first period and ~1 hour to do it in it sounds pretty fucken wicky. ur site is pretty sick to brah. we will hopefully get a cut of the free time at zeal and make a huge effort on making an awesome demo. then i can send u a copy if ya want? hey do u know tim ellis? his little bro andy is our bass player. you need soem fotos of Rhombus on ur site when they have a gig. ill be going coz their first single "Clav Dub" (yet to be released) is awesome. Tiki is in the band and they rule. kinda like salmonella but thats a good thing aye? Laterz

nice
:)

Im in a wellington band called 'Mir' and we would be really keen for something like that. what underground bands need are regular gigs so that they can get exsposure. and benny who says you cant organise anything like this? If you can get 4 or 5 bands then I can pretty much say it will organse itself, Ill give you hand aswell, all it takes is some well planned publicity.

do you have any recordings yet?

No just live recordings done of f the pa at gigs, should have something in the next month or so

"However, the Worlds of Wellington Trust announced yesterday that it would set up a temporary [ice] rink between September 20 and October 6."

"The trust is also promoting several other activities during the "Spring Break"...

...Mr Sprey said an event for young rock bands will not only give them a chance to perform at the Wellington Town Hall but also to take part in music and recording industry workshop and appear on a CD featuring the 10 best young local bands."
