I read with much intrest the first review of zed i have seen outside of NZ (i think it was in rolling stone), and low and behold - it actually told the truth. none of this wonderboy, best band in the world bullshit. it gave the album what it deserves - 2 and a half stars. just coz their from nz and have had a bit of airplay dosen't mean their the best thing since sliced bread guys. 999... u couldn't be more right. larz4zed - i'm sorry but all i can do is laugh.

Yeah - no doubt that theres a heeeeep of bands out there - talented or otherwise - who work their butts off and dont get noticed at all!!! sad but true - I can remember Tadpole playing to about 6 people over at Devonport a couple of years ago - (4 of the 6 were the other band!!!) but they still gave it ferken heeeps. Now - I am not a fan of Tadpole but you gotta respect them for their perseverance and the fact that they kept givin it ferken heeeeps until obviously - somebody sat up and said - Fuck - these guys are serious - lets throw them some money and marketing and see what they can do with it - and 30000 CDs later........ I guess what I'm trying to say is that although most bands work hard there is an element of luck in the drive for "success". I think its a matter of being in the right place at the right time....rubbing shoulders with people who can open doors for you and going with it!!. record companies don't throw bands money , not if they are small indies , like tadpole are with . Bands that make it usually unless they are a commercial monstosity , pay for it all out of their own pocket and still do even after they've "made it" . The pools , cocaine , fast cars and waterside apartments ,just arn't a reality in new zealand

i dunno why but i like tadpole. they may be reasonably commercial, but their songs have something about them. um their new song called 'better days'(?) is pretty awesome the guitarist has got some crisp, fucken grunty riffs goin, i reckon tadpole are bloody awesome and grouping them together with the likes of zed really fucken sucks.
okay i know this is like such a slow reaction and all but c'mon, zed rock! now dont get me wrong, i luv almost all nz bands, theres only about 3 at the moment who i can think of that i dont like but thats just because ive met them and i dont think they are the nicest people and all but thats no reason to not like their music.. but as i was gonna say, give zed a break, they have done so well and come so far from the typical high school band which is how they first started out. Their lyrics are so beautiful and so are the tunes and they are the kind of bands that are gonna get somewhere, zed have a hell of a lotta supporters, myself included, probably one of the most successful bands according to the youth today so i think mentioning zed in this topic is about as stupid as.. something stupid.. dont ask me.. but mentioning zed here is WRONG!!!
