pacifier:New Zealand's greatest rock'n'roll band??

I think the cocaine and strippers must have affected their brain while they have been in LA!
Good on them for trying to make it over there. But.......................claiming openly to be New Zealand's greatest rock'n'roll band???????

Cant these guys take it out of their own arse just for one minute?

note: this is not an attack on shihad or pacifier but their profile sorta made me want to puke! I mean are the datsuns claiming themselves to be the future of rock and roll? NO WAY! People shouldn't let things go to their heads.

Forums: NZ Music,

Yeah so anyway. Maybe it was the "monster US management company The Firm (Limp Bizkit, Korn, Linkin Park)" who wrote that pile of crap!

I mean they do have quality acts like the above on the firm so yeah that explains something!

hmmmmmm....... but anyway

cool video clip, new stuff sound real nice too

don't worry androu you'll get there one day

yeah the music did sound good.

Umm.. it's called hype: a necessary evil in this business. Sorta like the Rolling Stones calling themselves the "greatest rocknroll band in the world," or Piss (um, Kiss) being called the "Hottest band in the land/world." Neither ever were; it's just a hook.

Oh yeah, let's not forget that it's not Karl doing the website any longer. They've got a professional copywriter on it.

Let's assume for now that it was all done by a copywriter. But also, let's assume that there is a best band in nz. Who would it be? And would Pacifier be in the running for that title?

Personally, I have no problem with a bit of self-promotion, especially when the promoter has the goods to back it up.

i think its a bit arrogant....

arrogant maybe, but fucking right on the money!! There is no better rock band in NZ.

agreed manamana. where are the nominations for contenders..!

split endz are pretty tough to beat. i reckon.

I'd certainly not see Pacifier anywhere near the top of the list for best band of any soirt in NZ, but if we were to talk about the best conventional rock band in NZ, then I think Pacifier would fit in quite well - it seems to have all the cliches which go with being a rock band down pat, so they're welcome to the title.

have you seen then live in front of a big crowd????

You might change you mind

what ed said...i think we can safely assume pacifier themselves didnt write it. now if my possessed devil spawn computer would just play the damn audio sample id be happy!!!!!

Lol.. Fireliliy, methinks it might the result of an evil dialup connection, not your PC.. btw, haven't Shihad/Pacifier stuck it out a bit longer than most competitor in that category?

New Zealanders know are great Pacifier are, but Americans don't. I'd rather have Americans thinking that Pacifier are New Zealand's greatest rock 'n' roll band than thinking their some little sheepherder boys who've just started to learn to play the guitar and thought they'd try their luck in the USA.

I've heard it said that often New Zealanders don't like to talk about themselves, that it's considered arrogant, while in America it seems that Americans like to talk about themselves a lot. So declaring Pacifier to be New Zealand's greatest rock 'n' roll band maybe wouldn't seem too arrgoant in America.

(Ha - I keep typing S-h-i-delete-delete-delete)

Pacifier or zed...... I know which one I'd choose to represent NZ rock

me too. pacifier by farrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
stil doesn't mean they should think of themselves as rock gods!

as far as i know shihad have never been short of self belief, esp Jon Toogood, anyway that "statement" was not a quote, so it was written by A) the people who made the site, or B) it came from the record company. It's not like the band is saying this in interviews etc.

I remember an Oasis interview with Liam Gallahger comming out and saying we are the best rock n roll band in the WORLD fullstop.......now thats arrogant, but also may have been true at the time.

Well he's a dickhead & Oasis suck!!! Just a Beatles wannabe band

//Well he's a dickhead & Oasis suck!!! Just a Beatles wannabe band

i beg to differ

I think it's just cliched copy editing, that's all. I don't think it's necessary, because whether the US takes to them or not, nobody over here realistically could care where they are from. I care because I am a fan of NZ music, I have loved the Fits, Weta, Bike, and others, so it's a pleasure to see them get some props coming from that part of the world, but I am a rarity over here. Most people still don't know AC/DC is Australian, but they still sell craploads of records. Still, it does smack a little of stupidity.

Hmm.. actually AC/DC are no more Aussie than the members of Pacifier for being based in Melbourne, or Russell Crowe (tho from what I've heard of him you might not even wanna claim him!) being Aussie for that matter; Angus, Malcolm and Bon were all Scotland-born (don't remember for sure about Phil), while Cliff and Brian were both born and bred in England. Most people here in the States only care if it rocks. Look at me - I am a huge fan of Shihad/Pacifier (have all of their releases) and Tadpole, etc. And guess what? I HATE Limp Dickless! I don't really think anyone will trip on the 9/11 connection either.

and tadpole, //

what are you like?

Its all just nit picking..... get over it!!!!!

absolutely get over the use of the description of greatest rock band......... look at the comments on this site, it is a phrase that pacifier may be entitled to use
What has me worried about the content of the profile... is the comments about 9.11 it would seem that the Americans have a very dim view of the use for "profit" of this day.........
there appears to be a great deal of back lash directed at anyone who is perceived as doing so we have had the huge name change debate with pacifier,
are you aware of the trouble brewing over "that peter Jackson guy using our two towers as a name for his movie" ?
I hope I'm wrong.... but a launch based on a song called comfort me, who's lyrics (well the wee bit I heard) are clearly about 9.11, and then to read on the profile that they are, is a bit risky.........
the timing of spilt enz's 6 months in a leaky boat help to sink them in the uk and the song had nothing to do with the Falklands

yuv nailed it.

i've been a little bit worried about how the band, specifically tom, have been conductuing themselves in the media. i do feel for them, because like the manics are always asked about their missing member, it seems that shihad/pacifier can't do an interview without being asked about the name change. this just creates room to say the wrong thing ie, tom's post on this site that rolling stone et al quoted about the "US being full of psychos". if i was the bands management i would only grant interviews based on the premise THAT topic does not arise. it's unfortunate that 9.11 still dominates how the media and US public function, being outsiders we need to put it to one side. i don't see how a song will make much difference, but i just wish they didn't write a song about 9.11 at all.
[/useless point of view]

*excuse me while I point and laugh at Andoru calling Limp Bizkit, Korn and Linkin Park 'quality acts'*

Korn... perhaps (hmm... their debut was decent)
Limp Bizkit... no
Linkin Park... hell no

Dude, listen to something real

um...i think he was being sarcastic....

No blink i was being totally serious!!!!
I bump and grind to da bizkit all day long followed closely by tha park dem korn. Every day man it is my routine. I love them and they love me.
