Okay, screw it - Check this band

I know, I know, this is all about NZ music, which I truly support, but I have to sing the praises of a band from where I'm from, and please don't pelt me too much with eggs, ahem, San Francisco, USA. They are called Creeper Lagoon, and the reason I'm letting all you cool folks know is that I doubt they will have much of an effect on the US music scene, and it would be a shame for such great talent to pass into obscurity. I've been listening to their album "Take Back the Universe and Give Me Yesterday" in heavy rotation along with Weta Geographica and other stuff, and as an experienced music fan, if I find something that I simply don't seem to tire of, that's when I know it's a special album. It's a great listen from beginning to end, alternating slower songs with those that rock, and then hits some pretty heavy points towards the end, before resolving in an upbeat way. Don't you love when an album actually has a progression that makes sense? On the same topic, I think Geographica is a brilliant album. Totally gets you into a groove. BUT, I think Snapshot is the one song that shoulda been left off. It's kind of jarring after Sweet Surrender and Conversation. Anyhoo - that's it. Have a great day everybody.

Forums: NZ Music,

Zed who?

where can i find out more about this band?

Have these guys got a website to check them out?
This site is for discovering music, not voting on who the best zed boy is or the best NZ band is, lets use it for its proper means.

Hope to see Creeper Lagoon do well, if you like them we like them!

Hey guys -
Here's a link (I hope) to Creeper Lagoon's site http://www.creeperlagoon.com/

There's another while we're on the subject of other groups called the Old97's - kind of punk country, and the songwriting is totally top notch, ala vintage Elvis Costello, but of course in a rough housing twangy sing at the top of your lungs kind of way:

My current favorite song goes

"this old nightclub, stole my youth, yeah this old niteclub, stole my true love,
it follows me around, from town to town, I just might get drunk tonight and burn the niteclub down!!!"

Ahem.

Anyway, Peace ya'll
Mingo
