"-In the music there's a constant use of strange and psychedelic sounds, and that gives a strange atmosphere. Sometimes those sounds are frogs, barking dogs, crying baby's but mostly you can't describe it... You simply have to hear it!! Also used are the famous acid or 303 sounds, and even guitars, who drive people completely crazy!"
apparently there are psytrance parties held all around the world. sounds like fun.
kitsune, can you point us to any sites where we can hear this stuff?
A good place to look would be www.cranium.co.nz - they're into importing psychotrance, probably have a good idea about the local scene as well. With Foaf's description, I am put in mind of a christchurch label, operating out of Lyttleton, trying hard to think of their name. They put out some music by a band called Boctahne (which is at the goth end of the spectrum) - if you were to google on that name, you'd find the label's website and see what else they produce. And even though its a goth shop, don't ovelook www.clubbizarre.co.nz as a possible source.
"Absolutely gorgeous ambient meditative space music with New Zealand native birds the tui and bellbird added for their very unique soft song tones. Sambodhi Prem lives on the edge of the Te Urewera National Park which is situated at the top of the South Island of New Zealand and on Forest of Dreams Sambodhi presents one 68+ track of relaxation music played on synthesizer & e-bow with the occasional assistance of tui's & bellbirds. We all need to take time out and "Forest Of Dreams" is highly recommended to soothe the stresses we are all put through."
Description of Sambodhi Prem's "Forest of Dreams" which is closa as I have found at Cranium's website.
Thanks for the recommendations myshkin, I'll check out cranium.. sounds interesting!
Foaf, there's actually some great psytrance on mp3.com. Try Infected Mushroom (http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/225/infected_mushroom.html) and Growling Mad Scientists (http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/170/growling_mad_scientists.html). Both are professional artists that have been producing long before the inception of mp3.com, but they've been kind enough to release many of their tracks free there! :)
Hope you enjoy it.. I certainly do. Other great artists to check out include Shpongle, Hallucinogen, Blue Planet Corporation, Juno Reactor, Manmademan, and Total Eclipse.
