LAUGH! at me

so...LAUGH! fest....
Just a bit of free publicity for a gig, which I happen to be in (well, hey, this IS a bar...damn I just realised Im underage) called Class Comedians.
Different acts from the fest went round Auckland schools earlier this year doing demonstrations and running a free workshop at each school they visited. From all those that attended the workshops, 20 15-17 year olds were chosen to take part in a week-long workshop in the hols and we are also hell-rehearsing currently for...THE SHOWCASE!!!
date: sunday 5th may
time: 4pm onwards (an hour or two)
venue: the Civic Wintergarden
tickets: $18 adults, $10 childrenat Tickitek. if you go to Real Groovy on Queen St, where the concert tickets are sold, theres a pile of bright pink & red flyers which have a discount voucher on the back. get one. it saves you money.

so, after a months-long intensive training program, we bring to you sketches and stand-up acts, all original material by the 19 of us, (were aiming for 4 min length for each as thats how long Pulp rookies are given) groomed by pro comedians such as sully o'sullivan, radar, paul ego, justine smith, vaughn king, dai henwood, wills and spencer, jeremy elwood and brendhan lovegrove, and last but MOST OF ALL jan maree, winner of 2001 billy T awards. (yes! name-dropping! go me!)

so, come watch myself, ashleigh, and other offensive, disgusting and hilarious teenagers from all around auckland perform before the pros we met steal all our jokes for THEIR future shows.
Support fresh comedy, its so funny youll shit yourself, honestly!! (dont worry its a family show so were not allowed to swear or be too normal)

go on, buy a ticket and bring along a banner with your NZM.com icon and name! lol! I dare ya!

Forums: The Bar,

I'm sorry, if I lived in Auckland I'd def be interested. Sounds fun.

good luck...... they had a wee bit of this on the telly last year and it was excellent.....did i see last years winner on pulp comedy a few weeks back?

yeah, its gonna be on telly, an hour-long mai-time special (yay...mai-time...greeeat oh well its tv)
they did that last year, apparently it got really good ratings. a few of last years' people are back on it this year, because theyre still in school so they can. the previous winners are now doing raw/fresh nights at the classic, the silo etc, but im not sure about Pupl...probabaly right though!
ive got a gig this arvo at the silo, 'the fresh on sunday', where varsity students and other new people get to run their material in from of pros and we all get feedbackfom the audience which is pretty goo, itll be my first-ever proper gig...go me again! i should probably be learning my script cause if i fuck up jan wil give me the bash, lmao!

Please give us a heads up when that is going to be on...ta

Ahhhhhhhh....
dont know whern it'll be on yet, but the Showcase itself was awesome, really funny. everyone who went said they were amazed at the standrrd of the material. So, apart from me forgetting one of my lines and satnding on stage for 30 + secs. looking like a fuckwit, it was great (yeah, I said something about john banks in white pants then lost all concentration and couldnt remember a thing...hey it couldve hapened to anyone!) They (the mentors) said it wa sall good though, cause I managed to get the audience back after that though, which most people can never do, so I didnt die COMPLETELY of embarassment.
There were some great acts, people said they truly looked professional, so Ill give you the time/day its on when i find out so if youre interested you can watch it on telly.
On ya. What did everyone think of the Tuis??
Ash

well i saw the mai time special on saturday, it was extremely funny!! it was really good. you werent bad at all. it looked like a lot of fun. any one else see it? i especially liked the 'not raybon khan(sp?)'

Yeah it was great fun, I didnt find out it was on till that morning and didnt have time to post that it would be. Sad we didnt get any advertising for the show (ie tv) though, but heaps of random ppl at school said they saw it. I didnt think people watched mai time but you learn something everyday. On ya trixie!
Yeah, Adrien (the asian 'im not rabon kan...im the cheap imitation') was great, everyone was, i oved Ricards "now bring us our figgy pudding!" bit, that was awesome. It was a shame they didnt put more of everyone in, I dont think mine looked too god because I think you kinda had to see the whole thing to get the most out of it. They didnt show 4 people, all of them were hilarious but their material was 'inappropriate' i guess...all about titties and death row and stealing someones girlfriend. That was a damn shame but I think were having another show later this year so its all good :D
