Shapeshifter - Welly?

I have heard a filthy rumour that Shapeshifter are here next weekend? Is someone toiling with me or have alllll my dreams come true? If anyone is in the know...

Forums: NZ Music,

At the risk of cross-pollinating NZ music websites, go looky here:

and you'll see that they're in Wellington NEXT weekend, on the 4th. Last Welli gig before they shift to Melbourne...

Thanks Loop your a doll...

AND Concord Dawn AND its their last show in Nz after going everywhere else first AND its only $20!! how can anyone not have a wicked nite.....
except wot is wierd/kinda annoying is that on the same nite there is a hiphop kinda scrath off at phoenix with Raw and Sirvere etc and Scribe ...did i mention the SAME NITE? if that doesnt encourage division i dunno wot does...so much for the player's ball vibe!! sigh

Well shapeshifter went down a treat. the encore...fukking amazing. appart from the over-selling of tickets, the drunken disorderlys & the over excessive dry ice it was still wicked. Although I must say that when I got there at about midnight, there was some terrible pre recorded drum & bass playing before shapeshifter made their move...it was waaay better upstairs where cuffy was playing a bit of house. Overall...rock on shapeshifter...you delightful things you.

choice! how many people there???

Apparently they sold like 600 tickets & they over sold the dj battle too, but it still went off!

there had to be a couple of hundred upstairs and down. and outside.
and yeah it was bad-assed... shapeshifter were bad-assed. the band worked and churned through a full on set of goodies. and man the audience saw them off with a ton of noise. even during songs flurries of bodies & limbs shot to the roof, with people calling props to a massive sight. the ensuing calamity was outstanding, from both band and patrons.
i'd agree with pitchblack here and say the opening dj was laying into some weak tunes before we got treated to the real stuff.
all awesomeness and luck to the boys endeavours overseas... it's evident they can put up an awesome show, put out an awesome record and play some 'out of it' instuments.
tapestry followed by bubble & crisp seemed by far the crowd rager for everyone. all tunes from the album were received well. mc mana seemed to be saving himself and leaving the band to play relatively untouched (and surprising everyone i think). but not without charging everyone up first!!
the strangest thing for my night was seeing the array of different people. the was no-one coming out of the woodwork 'cause it was all here. another thing i noticed was the incessant scent of the femininá... feared and respected throughout the world, they were in force sat night. they were everywhere! and all wore dangerous fragrance! all beautiful and dangerous young and old. of course this was never distracting us from soaking the music...
fun was had, but i was weak and tired so i went home early (4 o'clock!?) smiling and satiated.

Yeah I went so hardcore that I piked early as well, & I couldnt stop muttering to myself, how fukking excellent it was & how gutted simultaneously that I wouldnt see another gig displaying that finer perhaps for a long time. Yeah the mc'ing was really surprising, fukking great for a live gig, I enjoyed the mix up...so much passion & energy by the boys reflected on us sooo much. & to the big dude that slammed my neck into the ledge at the back, hmmm not impressed...sorry about kicking you also. I left also very stoked & extremely satisfied.

wot a wicked nite! i ended up being a line geek, arriving at about quarter past ten to get my doorsales. i agree that was all a bit nuts-when we got ours they told us they had 100 sales and there musta been atleast 250 ppl behind us....whn I came back sat beside a guy upstairs who spent a good 10 mins trying to get Cuffy to play micheal jackon..hehehe…but ANYWAYS the 'shifter were brill the crowd v appreciative- great to see. i also was absolutely luvvin concord dawn’s reliable dark n dirty. Tingles down the spine. it was stil going off at 5 30 when i had to leave becoz i was working at 10am (plus was covered in 20 layers of sweat and already aching!) ...not such a pretty site but it was worth it! go the national drumnbass gigs: as-good-as if not better than heapsa internat. headliners
