I bumped in to the singer in town before the big day out and told him i loved his band.
Then they completely changed (which i didn't like) but won the next years rockquest.

What I find shocking are the bands with other bands' names. Like there were at least 3 bands called Exit in the heats last year. Or the tossers who called themselves The Band. There was already a band called that, they were really famous, you (and your music teachers and your parents) are LAME if you haven't heard of them!
Other ones I remember for being lame: The Girlz, Best Friends 4 Eva, Prevail.

Tossers indeed. The Band was one of the greatest, er, bands of all time. "Music From The Big Pink" is one of my favourite albums, along with their second self-titled LP.

im in the process of organising a band and im thinkin of a name, ive got peice of piss (P.O.P.) cause i'd love to hear the LAME jokes comin out of that "thanks for that great POP music" "what jenre music do u play???"
or ive got duh duh duh duuuuhhhh cause that would be cool, having a sound for your name :D i can imagine my principla sayin that in assembly....

Ah, I spent some time checking through ...
Ah, I spent some time checking through this just to make sure that my entries of '96 and '98 weren't in here, although in '96 we flagged anyway, which was probably a good idea as there were two or three other bands named the same. As for the idea way up there of having a craziest name competition so people can win shit, the best way is to enter into a small region, in '98 we entered in the Manawatu one and won it even though we were shit, glee!
