Easy one - first release by Flying Nun?

Pin Group's seven inch single 'Ambivalence'/'Columbia'.

escy what your question?

Has anyone ever actually heard this track? Flying Nun mention it as their first and then get on with saying about their part in getting the Clean and the Chill underway. Who were the Pin Group???

Roy Montgomery, bassist Ross Humphrey, and drummer Peter Stapleton. Roy's till putting out stuff. Don't know about the other two.

You can hear these 'legendary' tracks, and an extended bio online @

it's kinda bruce russell styles, the old pin group. they actually put out a retrospective (funnily enough, it's called 'retrospective') in 1997.
peter stapleton did some stuff with mr russell (i think!) in handful of dust and also with peter jeffreies.
ross humphrey worked with heaps of bands - inc mighty might bosstones & big wheel.

Thanks noizyboy and Caff - I'll check out the sounds when I get back from Tool.

What colour is Uncle Monkey's Holden painted?

ah, should have looked at static-ecstasy.com, of course.
isn't the band called sonic animation and the song is 'e-ville' though?
anyway, the band I was thinking of -- Pit Pony -- isn't there.

I was going off memory, only remembered it had something to do with e-ville.

can i ask a question now?

should be a cinch.
name all four members of the 3d's.

Denise Roughan, Dave Mitchell, Dominic Stones and David Saunders - three from memory, cheated and looked the fourth one up - sorry Mr Saunders.

This one might be a bit harder, but if you have a collection of compilations of older NZ music, the answer is on a record sleeve. Which NZ musician was part of the international act Dead Can Dance for a while.

Actually, may need to reword this question - the musician in question was not born in New Zealand, but was certainly in a New Zealand band: name the band. And forget the reference to "for a while" at the end of the orginal question.

robert perry had a bit of kiwi by default in em... can think of what nz band he was in ... doh

noisyboy?

i mean "can't" think.... shucks

what a bloody hard question myshkin!!!!!!!
