A site that will make you a website for free? Do they exist?
If you want a website for free you're going to have to design it yourself.
Which means learning some html and finding a free WYSIWYG HTML package or notepad.
This site has some good stuff to start with:

///make you a website for free? Do they exist?
fee hosting does exist, but you have to build your own.....geocities is ok they have a page builder so you only have to worry about linking the pages, so it works....but it does have a lot of limitations, and trying to log into yahoo when the usa is on peek usage time is like the old days with xtra..ie getting on is like winning at lotto

Yes, Geocities has a lot of limitations, I guess it depends on the purpose of the site.

i see stefan, on you web address you have used i-hug what that like? did it come as part of your sign up package?

yeah it is just a 5MB webspace they give you for being a member.
You can get some free 5MB webspace from Dalnet on IRC by registering and using your IRC account like twice a week or something.

sorry to turn this into a "conversation" but 5MB is that a useful size... xtra are offering 3 but that through msn
i still find getting my brain around the numbers tricky i can remember being very impressed that my first computer had 16K of memory and a dual casette storage system, my head went into overload when people started talking in terms of gigabites

well once again depends on what you want it for. 5MB is more than enough for just webpages and images but if you want to store large files like mp3s it becomes bit limiting.

// What is Web Hosting?

If you have a web site and you want people to be able to visit it, it'll need to be hosted somewhere.

- There are free web hosting places like Geocities.com, but you'll probably have things like ads or pop-up windows on your site.
- The company you connect to the internet with may offer free web hosting. Check out what they offer on their web site.
- You can pay to have your site hosted. Entertainz.co.nz are good.
- Or you can do what I did and befriend a geek who'll host it for you for free.

If you're just starting out with your first web page, I recommend starting with a free host until you're a bit more confident with things.

scr nice site but should all the links be in the public domain ?

haven't finished it yet.

don't waste time building websites.... web sux

what happens when the power goes off??

just go outside and do something real

or find balance and do both.
The medium isn't as important as relaying the message anyway possible.

the hypocrisy in your statement is unbelievable natas.

lets hope it was meant to be taken with a grain of salt.

allow me lucifer_sam - expert at custom websites to give u da 101 on web creation.

NEVER use "free web hosts" sure they maybe free but you get banner ads, floating ads, pop up ads, all against your free will and they never let you get your own ads - fuck em.

brush up on HTML, JS and opitionaly DHTML and XML Skills this will make your website exceptionally cool.

install a program which will configure your website - its hard work but youll get their (i forgot the name of this prog. i used it in tech last year)

shop around for domain providers - as far as i know the cheapest is $40 per year, and that is a shitload better than free providers who try and corrupt your IE Browser with those annoying pop up ads.

I usually use Dreamweaver... which is really easy and gives great results
