NZM Block Voting

The Planning Room for any "subjects" which you think the NZM community should unanimously vote on.

The Plan
To vote for a non "white boy rock/metal", hopefully something utterly different. (On the chart of the morning of Sunday 21 April 2002)

List possible songs (song - artist) with "add comment" till (and including) 14 April 2002 (Sunday).
Vote for songs here with "reply to post" (leave blank, vote once), till (and including) 18 April 2002 (Thursday).
Go to M2 site and "everyone" vote (proper) for the song that has accumulated the most votes here.

(This should show; whether NZM block voting system works, the power/strenght of the NZM vote, and the unity of the community.)

that would be sooooooooo cool! Awesome idea... & how about we all send e-mails to Most Wanted, with the same style in mind.

How about any older NZ videos... Headless Chickens for one

Greenstone - Emma Paki

K, I just voted for this... & I know it says only one vote, but I tried it & voted for a bunch more, non-mainstream looking ones from NZMs video list... This is sooo cool!

Um, I thought you can only vote once on the M2 site?

Yeah.. I dunno if they'll all be counted, but you can fill in the form & submit multiple times.

great idea escy. we might try making up a special page which everyone could see what today's "cause" is. nominated and decided by your vote of course...

So do we wait, or should we continue on with this experiment?

go for it now and we'll base it on what works here... suggest you set up new topics or something...

What a great idea.

(Any one else notice the wall of this room are starting to crumble?)
Since we want to keep out votes together, and Megaccino has started voting (proper), I guess we should all vote for Greenstone - Emma Paki this week (the show on Sunday 14 April 2002). As for the experiment, I've started it again elsewhere.

Feel free to discuss the NZM Block Voting system and other related topics here (afterall, this is the Planning Room).

sorry escy...ok I like the idea of voting for a different sound...lucid 3 is a band that I have only just discovered, seen live under trying circumstances, I think they have a very interesting sound ....so could someone please recommend a track to vote for they have two videos that I know of Curious and Shiver

Cabbage Bomber are another band with a similar sound to Lucid 3. They, Cabbage Bomber, have a single (with video) called "You're a Sun".
Then there's Orangefarm who have a video made without NZ on Air funding (They're a "jangle pop" band, the song is called "She Means Nothing").
As for not counting the "add comment" as a vote, the reason behind this was to allow those who gave us suggestions to vote for the best (most appropriate) song from the nominees, rather than forcing them to stay with their suggestion.

like a shit i wish i had thought of that 2nd go, fair enough good point

we are such an undisciplined lot, we are bursting in to conversation left right and centre, would it work if we chewed the fat over it for a few days in the bar or where ever, then you come in with a firm "discussion over for this week", nzmcrew close topic you sift though and post voting form, (don't leave it to us to set voting form we are far too chaty and excitable) we all sweep in and vote for about two days then you post result with link and we got a block vote, and happy escy... we will get it in the end, so please don't shout

just a quick comment or two escy,
1st) I enjoyed how you high lighted my lucid3 post 6 hours after I had come to this topic said sorry and started discussion naming two video's and asking for advice on which to pick...
I know you saw this because you replied to it at 1.04
2nd) the links you put up are external they open with us not logged on so we can not use them to post on.
3rd) good luck it IS a good idea,
4th)but do try to stay clam, vent in Nana's if you need to, then come and give us advice on the system you have planned, and while you are in there you might see my face in there with no comment on the 10/04 I was practicing how to vote

Although it is considered to be "shouting", the main reason I used capital letters was for visual effect (not intonation).
I'll let the current experiment run its natural course, though your plan probably is more logical (and workable) Aka. But I think the NZM crew would be better suited to "sift" and post the voting form (and results).

1) Um, er... They were pre - suggestions. Ideas which could be picked up by anyone.
2) Oh. (How do you put internal links up?)
3) Thanks.
4) I am calm (If it works, it works. If it don't, it don't.). I was wondering why you posted a blank "reply".

I don't know much about Lucid 3.

1) (also) I was kicked off the computer around 21:00 (I have to share it with others). Sorry.
2) Odd. When I used links (using www.nzmusic.com/topic.cmf?i=...) made by me I stay logged on, but when I use other peoples links, in new window, I'm logged off.

Lucid 3 have a website (you can watch the videos there).

http://www.lucid3.com/ ]

Does that looks like the longest conversation one person has ever had with themselves on this site?

yeah well we nzm crew have so much free time for sifting and all....
I like escy's original idea. Escy I reckon just make it a new topic and in the intro post write out the rules clearly (caps welcomed). then start everyone off with a couple of examples of your own. If we can follow musical tag, we can follow a voting system.
both lucid 3 tracks are available here

well it might not have worked this time but some sort of vib must have travelled because M2 have just played both Lucid3 vids with a wee schpeal about them working on full length cd
