1st off i'd like to say rubicon r shit!!!! the only song that was any good was captain... but yeah che-fu was great him & the ckrates really interacted with the crowd & came out real weel, tadpole just rocked, u could feel that energy comin from all the songs, and "alright" what can i say?? the feelers KICKED ASS.
ive heard people say the're shit live, well THEY"RE NOT!!!!! venus, pressure man, friend, space cadet, fishing for lisa, astronaut the list goes on they just rocked.
i don't know bout any1 else, but silverchair was one of the best live bands ive seen in a while, i know its not NZ music, but the're damn good!!!
whats every1 elses opinion?
ohh and if u say rubicon had to warm up the crowd, how come che-fu & tadpole had to finish it off????

rubicon - total crack ups *dunno whether thats a good or bad thing*, tadpole - completly rawked!!!, no complaining there, wasnt tooooo impressed by che fu - he has an amazing voice, i got bored tho - prob coz its not my kinda music, but the crowd seemed to love him, feelers - ahhh i love those boys!!! - they were incredible!!!, absoloutly loved pressureman, and fishing for lisa!!! - they had total energy!!, really good vibes. silverchair - i was totally mesmerised by daniel...i wasnt completly into it *probably coz i was getting to squashed and tired and hot and cranky all over lol*...they were unbelievable tho!! - so glad i've seen them live...*daniel has total up-himself-prickyness going on tho - wasnt too impressed by that, i'm sure people still lvoe him tho*....
but yea - thats my semi-opinion on the wgtn summerjam.

yeah i got some free tickets to the Chch summer jam, so I went along.
didnt really see many people over 20. lotsa wee kiddies (probably born in the 90's) they were screaming and having a ball.
Tadpole were let down in the first 1/3 of their set by bad sound, they seemed to recover and the crowd totally got into their songs from the radio.
Che fu - i agree with Jenni, lovely voice, but just not my kind of music.
The vocals for the first part of the feelers set were atrocious, they seemed to be trying to sing lots of harmonies, but it just didnt quite work for some reason.
I thought rubicon were interesting to watch, they had a lot of energy, and seemed to be really into it. Silverchair - daniel (vocals) has a kind of gravelly voice which I like. He challenged himself by singing way too high for one of the songs and sounded pretty good. They all played a very solid set, and it seemed to go down well with the crowd. I recognized about 4 songs, but I was disappointed they didnt play 'tomorrow'.
All in all Im glad my tickets were free, but i did enjoy the gig.
Bah. Had free tickets, so I went ...
Bah.
Had free tickets, so I went hoping I'd catch Che Fu. Alas, we completely missed him, and caught the full brunt of the Feelers. How distressingly generic. They reminded me why I don't listen to the radio.
Coming up, we've got another 3 minute MOR-fest that NASA named for us! You WILL like it, because you know all the words. HOORAYS!
Ah well, took me back to 1999 at least.
Managed to get out before being infected with Daniel Johns' horrible crapness though, so it could have been worse.
There were a number of what looked like under-10 kiddies there, which is either encouraging or depressing, depending on how you feel about the human race.

I went to the Welly one and i loved it...
Rubicon had to be the best band by far.. all their songs were awesome and they were all looking damn good, in those red Rubicon shirts, very very very good!
Silverchair were also very good they had good sound and stuff, i liked Ben's massive colourful drum kit, that was cool.
The Feelers were also good, they had a good set... and james had a little dance between songs.. and Matt made us sing happy b'day to his little brother which was cool..
che fu and the crates were really good. it was different to the rest, but different in a good way.
but tadpole werent that good i thought. no reason why...
yeah after the gig i saw daniel johns looking quite ill.....
the down point was the Video clips between sets... the music was all shit like Ja Rule..(no offence to those people who like him)...
yeah....
great night all together. :)

Well, Summerjam went off!! Che Fu and ...
Well, Summerjam went off!! Che Fu and the Crates were defitnetly my favourite there, Che Fu worked the crowd into a fu*king frenzy and it was just wicked!! P-Money was excellent, but I mean what can you expect? He's always excellent!! Tadpole went hard, and the crowd really got into Alright. Rubicon, well what can I say about Rubicon. When Bruce came on half the crowd were doing the Bruce dance, and Gene, John and Paul were like the happiest band I've ever seen lol! The Feelers were FUCKING MASSIVE!! I honestly think there performance was better then BDO, and I just can't describe the atmosphere created when they were on. I only stayed for a couple of silverchairs songs, a)becoz I've seen them before, and wasn't impressed, and B) because I wanted to get backstage to get some autographs etc. But from what I saw, and heard later on, they were wicked. Unfortunately Daniel is pretty sick and left Queens Wharf Event Centre on crutches, and look pretty crappy, he could barely stand up. After the show I went to the backdoor where (suprisingly there were only two other little girls there!) I ran into Paul Reid, who signed an autograph for me, and gave me a really nice hug (Did i imagine his hand rubbing my hip??) I also got James from the Feelers autograph earlier on in the night. Then John from Rubicon and Matt from The Feelers came out, and I have to say they are two of the nicest guys I've ever met. I was telling Matt how I saw Paul Reid with his top off at BDO and he told me he had seen Paul naked. I asked him how and he told me they use to go out, hahahaha. I unfortunately missed seeing Che Fu leave by about 2 seconds, so no luck there! Damn, I really wanted to see P-Money too!!! When silverchair came out they were ushered straight to there van type thing, but not quick enough for me, and I bagged a hug from Ben! :o) (And squashed some of his fruit in the process! Opps!) So all and all, it was a fucken wicked night, they line up was great, and everyone was happy. Oh, and P-Money got proposed to over the big screen!!! (you could text it from you 025/027 cellphone) Thanks to anyone and everyone that made Summerjam 2002 a great time for everyone!

my personal favourite was che fu and the crates. i thought that they just gave the crowd this whole new feeling and involved everyone. it was so awesome! rubicon were funny as, looked like they were having such a good time. tadpole aren't really my thing but they played a good set. the feelers were way better live than they are on the radio, the main guy had tons of energy and was really into it. lots of people seemed to go to summer jam just to see silverchair, and as my friend pointed out i probably wouldn't have gone if silverchair weren't going, but man, i loved che fu so much and i appreciate music like his so much more now. silverchair was kind of ruined for me because there was this guy next to us doing the fingers to daniel johns and calling him a fag, then turning around to all his mates and going "ah-haw-haw-haw!!!" which is also known as laughter in macho-man language. it was really lame because silverchair 1) wouldn't give a f*&% and 2) couldn't see him anyway.
but wanky guys aside, i really enjoyed it. does anyone know if they had it last year and what bands went?

last years one sucked the big one although it was better in day time, it's not so damn cold, even though i got sun stroke last year cause it was too hot! but the bands were probably a better than last years, i dont like breathe or gargeland or stellar or zed......actually i only went to see killing heide and they went off!! i loved them! i was right up the front...ella fuckin rocks, i love that girl......*sigh*......yea

I can't believe that I actually paid ...
I can't believe that I actually paid $31 for that crap. Generally the music was good (yay for The Feelers, Tadpole and Che Fu) but the crowd, and general atmosphere, was fucking tragic (and Rubicon suck. Also, Silverchair barely played any of their older stuff).
There were a lot of girls there who apparently only came because they think the guys from Silverchair are hot. Grrr.. for fucks sake,
they're musicians not models.
Trivial things which pissed me off:
1. The plethora of girls who wore mini-skirts
2. The amount of people who thought it a good idea to stuff everything but the bloody kitchen sink into a huge backpack and bring it with them (naturally, these are the people I tend to get stuck behind in the pit... not that there was much of a pit, but that's another rant)
3. People who were incessanting using their cellphones
4. People saying that the Summer Jam is "hardcore"
5. People who brought shoulder bags with them
5. The girls who were wearing those oh-so-trendy "rock star" or "punk" t-shirts. Mainstream exploitation of a musical/subcultural style pisses me off. Wearing a t-shirt with a safety pin on it does NOT make you punk, bitches.
I guess I should have known that it would be one of those "see and be seen" events. Just another ploy to attract the $$'s of the trendy teen masses.
Tool is in 12 days - maybe that show will restore my faith in humanity. At least the vast majority of the ppl who will go won't be there because they think that the band members are hot, or to get dressed up and show off their new clothes. They'll be there because of the music. They'll just want to get there and go off, and that's the way it fucking should be.
Grrr....

i fully know what you're on about there Euphoria.....
I ended up going to the one in Hamilton cause my friends dragged me last minute with a free ticket, so i thought i'd go along and see how tadpole and che fu were.....and fuck they went off......i've never seen tadpole live so i thought they were gonna be just average but hell son, they were wicked, got the crowd going, same with che fu and p money, loving him.....feelers surprised me and they were actually pretty good, i didnt mind them, and the lead guy cracked me up, especially when he started doing an indian rain dance! he's so nuts.....rubicon.....dont even get me started, we were gonna make a huge sign "FUCK YOU RUBICON! MY NAME'S BRUCE!" and go up into the mosh pit (although you could hardly call the group of ten screaming girls a mosh pit) and i was so incredibly dissapointed and disgusted by silver chair i left. All he did was say 'fuck' and diss new zealand, and they're songs were crap so i left along with half the crowd......
And god! the amount of little girls running around in mini skirts and boob tubes was discussing, it was friggin cold as shit, i was wearing jeans a big jacket with sheepskin on the inside and a woolen scarf and i was still freezing my nuts off, and these girls were running round like it was the middle of fucken summer! some off the poeple i went with started telling them to put clothes on, it was pretty funny at the time.....and one girl was running around and just as she was running past us, she fell over on her arse and slid through the mud, at the same time losing her bob tube - lucky she had her bikini top on, considering she wasnt going swimming but you know! we laughed our arses off......
Its good to see them having a tight control on alcohol, but damn, the number of people smoking doobies there was disgusting! we almost got wasted off the amount in the air, i swear i was probably only breathing about 20% oxygen the whole time i was there......when my and a friend of mine were singing away to che fu, she started to admire a rather "hot" guy standing behind us, my friend was getting more and more excited every time she looked at him and then just when she managed to show him to me, he happened to be crouching down and lighting up his pipe.....hmmmm impressive.....
i totally agree with you about the guy ...
i totally agree with you about the guy from the feelers. what was he doing???
a very bad impersonation of Jim Morrison i think.
and it's amazing that when you ask the very under-dressed girls if they're cold...the answer is always 'no'. i don't understand...

jim morrison? i dunno, but he was jumping around doin the rain dance chanty thing like native americans.....he was pretty out of it.....cracked me up though....
you know, watching the amount of little girls running around actually made me feel old....thats the first time its ever done that, the people who i was with were all round 20 and they couldnt get over the amount of youngins....its all turning to shit really....

i know what you mean about the whole weed thing. That was like at creed, the air was really full of weed and i got really light headed from it.. in other words i was stoned :( not good. and its worse when some asshole knows you dont like it and blows it in your face....but its fun to have a big dragon ring on your finger to smack him in the face with.hehe................asshole cried to his momma.

it was alot better in wgtn... i wounder why, daniel complemented the crowd & all, i agree all the boppers round, i got asked for smokes by the same girl 5 times. if i did smoke, i'd be selfish anyway, they cost so much i wouldn't share but thats a different topic...
yeah i thought tadpole & the feelers would be alrite, but they weren't!!!! i was so impressed, & i have to say silverchair rocked at wgtn mabey he used up all his energy there?
DAMN ALL U RUBICON TEENY BOPPERS!!! WHO LISTEN TO BRUCE & THINK ITS PUNK & "BAD"

when did they ask for applause? when they were talkin to them on 'summer jam tv'? is that the reception you talkin bout?
i think that with rubicon - u either ...
i think that with rubicon - u either gotta REALLY love them, or REALLY hate them ---> the inbetween shit just doesnt go down with these guys...
i think that rubicon still have to gain their respect as musicians from the audience - whereas tadpole, feelers and silverchair have allready done-so, not saying that rubicon dont have the respect of the crowd - i'm just saying that rubicon are fairly 'new' and that the other three bands arent - they are there to perform - not to promote - if ya get what i mean?.
