Going back a lil bit -
I always thought Soundgarden was kinda cool

Soundgarden is a fucking wicked name.

Its even cooler when you know that they are named after a Seattle sculoture called Soundgarden as well.

But really, its the PERFECT band name!

PS: Soundgarden are like one of the best bands ever in my book.

agreed.

There we overshadowed by the overwhelming commercial success of Nirvana and Pearl Jam at the time but offered a lot musically.

Chris Cornell is up there with some of the last 20 years great vocalists.

apparently he sucks in concert though. sometimes mixing boards are a singers best friend.

They were great at the BDO they played at before they broke up.

Although they've never officially broken up.

Will be interesting to hear what he's done with the RATM boys. Even though he just quit.

You hear that RATM and Cornell are off now? Theyre putting out the album they were making, but Cornell spilt ("creative differences") and arent touring on Ozzfest as they were schedualed to. Sad news, look forword to the album. Agree with the name being really cool too.

Uhhh... that would be why I said

"even though he just quit"

I remember them at BDO out too, I thought they sounded pretty damn good - mind you at that satge in my life the sun shone out of Chris Cornells arse, so there might have been some bias envolved.
All those Original classic bands I love! Rage was definatly the original and best rap/rock band! But they get forgotten now that there are a million others! Its kinda sad.
Chillie Peppers might be getting old, but they are always gonna be right up there with me!

FYI jimi. if you're a fan Soundgarden rule in concert - vocals 'n all. Top three gigs of my life - BDO 91(?) Soundgarden headlined after Smashing Pumpkins, Urge Overkill, Breeders. Soundgarden literally had the biggest sound i ever FELT rippling thru 15,000 people (was smaller those days).

yeah i spose thats always the way isnt it. if ya really love a band, theres no excuse not to love their concerts either.

soundgarden rule /m/ and id rate chris cornell as one of the best vocalists ive ever heard live

Lost Prophets
Shihad
Silverchair (kinda has a story, I guess...)
Smashing Pumpkins (Original!!)
Radiohead

Seems to me, for the bands I think are good, there are good names. Not always the case though, I know. Somehow, I think that the reason I like the names is because I immediatly assosiate the name with the music I like. Makes sense, really.

i think Rubicon is kinda cool in a way but a bit weird name.
My mate thought it was something like Rub-My-Icon! lol what a silly girl!

Zirconium were a band from 'round wellington a little while back - It is the heaviest metal on the periodic table of elements...

The heaviest metal known to man... good band name.

also:
...and you will know us by the trail of dead, Grandaddy (appropriate for the music, somehow,) Mogwai (Gizmo was so cute!,) High Dependency Unit (Better than HDU, if a little ungainly,) Snot, Idle Faction.

//The heaviest metal known to man... good band name.

No it's not.

That was a response to "the heaviest metal" bit - not the good band name bit.

:P

I was wondering how that piece of information got into my head. Turns out I have been on these pages far too long, and I have been looking up to Blink for so long that I am starting to repeat what he has said... and even make the same mistakes. Shit man, I even have a beard on the way.
