I I REALLY love the name... I think it's great & different yet familiar to say.
I saw Elemeno P at the Sum 41 gig and they rocked. That was just before "Fast Times In Tahoe" was released. Now I can't get enough of that song, it's so good. Bought the single the other day and it also has two other songs on it - their cover of "Mickey" which went off at Sum 41 and a slow song called "Lullaby" which has weird lyrics but is actually kind of catchy. 3 songs on one CD - well worth the $10. Also check out their website it's been done quite well and it has some pictures of the Sum 41 gig and I'm in one of them - lol!
i like the datura flowers in the "fast times..." video. anyone else think that the song sounds like old weezer only with a kiwi accent though? my philosophy has always been that if you are going to rip of a band it might as well be a good band - so good work. keep it up.
ELEMENO P produce catchy and non-threatening, anthems. It's refreshing and all fun! Love it, can't get it out of my head! I am a little byast coz I know the boys - all ridiculously talented who've played in bands since out of the womb. They all use to do "serious" music, and as I understand it....forgive me boys if I'm wrong....they wanted to do something light-hearted and Universal just happened to dig it....AS DO MANY OF US! As far as I'm concerned - froma critical point of you - there influences are very obvious, but with a totally original spin on it. It reflects their sense of humour I'd say.
I hope they're here to stay.
I heard that Universal had got a new MD and a new A&R guy and they weeded out all the dead wood. Dark Tower, Purr, Deep Obsession were all told to 'explore their opportunities with other companies', no surprise that no one else has picked them up! Jason on ZM said the other day that Before Friday had some amazing American producer who was working on an album with them, I knda liked their stuff. Nice lyrics, girly songs but hey! I'm a girl!
ElemenoP was the first project of this new reigime and K'Lee seems to have lost that 'sluttiness' and is now just looking beautiful and wholesome. Looks like the changes were for the better.
I heard that Universal was the biggest record company in the world? Does this mean they have more $$ to spend on local acts? I hope so!! Go ElemenoP!

I saw the video for the new Elemeno P song, "Nirvana". I didn't realise how good looking the lead singer dude is (I should remember his name - it's spelled out in giant scrabble tiles in the video). All geeked up in the "Fast Times in Tahoe" video, he's the epitomy of cute indie rock boy in this video.
But the song is really mediocre. It sounds like the sort of song that you've heard somewhere before, which is probably because it's not all that original. The song appears to be about being a Nirvana fan, but that not meaning that he's as down as Mr Cobain was.
Way back in 1992 Juliana Hatfield wrote a song called "Nirvana". It was about her love for the band and the healing power of good, loud rock. Then in 1995 Hamilton bogan rockers Blackjack released a song called "Don't have a gun". Their response to Cobain's suicide, it managed to rhyme "Cobain" with "pain".
With Hatfield's song at one end of the "songs about Nirvana" continuum and Blackjack's song at the other, I reckon Elemeno P's "Nirvana" would sit somewhere in the middle, probably closer to the Blackjack end.
And as cute as the lead singer guy is, I don't think he has a particularly strong voice. Maybe another video to watch with the sound muted? (And I don't mean that in a mean way).
