The noise they are wanting to control is the noise coming from venues such as ARC.
I tell you i have seen a few acts there recently where it was like what the fuck!? TURN IT UP!
HDU got away with it last night because hey its HDU! they also got turned up at the end because the sound nazi had left.
I had always put the whole sound control thing down to developers building in the inercity, and then the poelpe living in these apartments wanting the benifits of living in the cbd's without the concquences, ie the noise.
My thought for them have always been if you don't want city noise piss of back to the subs, with the sweet sounds of lawn mowers and weed eaters, ya wonkers.
I had never thought that Dunedin would have to put up with this type of thing, only people living iner-city being students?
Have things really changed that much? i am shocked and disapointed
Too many teenage drunken parties playing way too loud pop at 3 in the morning is not fun. Simple, call noise control and by 4 am, the madness in Kingsland has stopped. Thanks
well, i loike it loud, but i actually thought HDU really benefitted the other night from the noise control limits ... you could hear Neil's bass a lot better, and Tristan's vocals
the best noise is when the venue is absolutely PACKED (it wasn't quite at HDU the other night) and they have to turn it up! then human bodies seem to absorb the horrible treble-ly stuff ...
Which sort of takes me back to to my first ever topic, but it is two diferent things.......
~the guys on the sound boards getting the levels just right for the enjoyment of the people at the gig
~ and city councils alowing developers to build in the cbd without adiquit sound proofing and or ventilation
I have read more than one comment about over heating in Wellington, here in nelson where it gets bloody hot, being closed in to keep the noise down can be unbearable,
~Noise Control~ a good and a bad thing. Mostly the shit that goes down outways the good stuff that they do.
For example, last year, my friend had a bit of a shindig at her house it was a 1930's bonny & clyde type saga, with a bit of swing & some very nice jazz. Was all very civil etc & controlled, the music was pretty quiet for a get together actually. Then the noise control fukk wits ventured our way & took the speakers, us drunken & mindless, feble as frightened mice, kind of were pretty angry, but let it go. Anywho, my friends father is a jazz musician and he started busting the old guitar, and being a fine musician we all were getting into...as you do. Then we hear a knock at the door, & its the noise dicks again trying to take his fukkin guitar. The scenario is that they are power tripping meat axes who dislike people who have fun & listening to music, whatever that maybe. same goes to the pathetic people who have no tolerance for other peoples personal satisfaction. Which in hardly affects them, well in this case. Sometimes its fair enough other times when noise control is involved, its just plain nasty. So noise control can fuck off. and complainers , put up or fuck up.
Having been to alot of loud drunken teenage parties in my time, its come to my attention that alot of these noise police become alot less interested in thier job when they're handed a beer and invited in to join the party, maybe they are human afterall....
