Where to find NZ guitar and bass tabs

I am wondering if anyone knows of any websites that have any guitar/bass tabs from New Zealand bands. I found a couple of tabs on some international websites but theres nothing really in New Zealand for local artists?! If so, can someone please put the URL up in here. Oh wait, I did find one site, but it just had a lot of old school bands plus the more commercial ones (Tadpole, Zed etc). Know of any place to find some Pluto/D4/Sommerset/Augustino/Blindspott (ie: new NZ bands) tabs?

Forums: NZ Music,

I'd say you would be pushing your luck there, most of those bands you mentioned don't even have albums yet, yet alone tab sites. If you play, then listen to the music and figure it out yourself..better yet, write your own music.

Yeah might be pushing my luck but hey... I was more wondering whether there was someone out there with lots of time on their hands so the people I know that want them can be lazy, ya know? Cos they're wicked songs and yeah... why not share it round? Doesn't mean they don't write their own music, it just means they appreciate good songwriting when they see it.

I don't agree with other people ripping off artists music, even just for fun. It sucks. Write your own.

What if you're just learning to play or you are uncreative? (like me)
I think being able to play your fave songs is cool, 'cos it shows u appreciate the sound & music & all. And lotsa international bands even have the tabs on their official sites!!
Sorry, I dunno where to find any NZ music ones.

Hmmm and I suppose that you're a mega-talented fantastic songwriter Funkybitch that doesn't ever need to play other peoples songs on your guitar because you've just written a song for every occasion??? Hmm... I'm looking forward to your album.

Yeah, covers rock too... Think Me First & the Gimmie Gimmies! Improving the shit of the music world

I think its really awful when bands get big on a cover and their not a cover band. Like AAF. I didnt like the fact they became big here with "smooth criminal." I knew of them before they were released here, and was really disapointed that that song was the first one they released here because if your a proper band, like so, it doesnt show that you have major talent or anything. It shows that you can rip off a band easily. Tho, saying that, i do think me first and the gimme gimmes are kewl, but their a cover band and thats all they do, so i respect them for that. Their version of The Rainbow Connection rawks.

pull ya head in Funkybitch, ask any muso, if the first song that came from their chosen instrument wasnt a cover I would be very fuckin surprised.Trace the steps of any of your favs and tell me im talkin shit.If you can do that then you have a remarkable link to artists from the planet oooorggg or simply have talents that us mere mortals simply do-not.Go for it Martha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Martha you said you found one website with Zed and tadpole and stuff I was wondering what is the address? If you could tell me that I would be greatful.

Sure Gina. I haven't actually picked up the guitar to give these a go yet (but then again I SHOULD be writing my OWN bass tabs, shouldn't I Funkybitch?) so not sure how good they are. Might actually give a few of these ago.

Oh, I was just wondering about doing covers I know your like aloud to play them to your self but what about at concerts or on albums do you need permission?

my understanding is that playing covers live is fine but to record you need permission and have to pay royalties etc.

i read that if you were going to perform a cover live, the owner of the venue had to be notified and he/she paid royalties. this was in the rockquest booklet, written by an rianz guy.
i'd guess that they wouldn't bother about it if it was a small concert - maybe even not if it was a big one?

was that specific to the rockquest or did it come across as general?
interesting.

it was a general article about copyrights, and being a member of rianz and what that entitled you to. i don't know if that rule was made just for rockquest....?
fuckybitch you seem 'in the industry' what do you reckon?

why the venue owner? Sounds a bit dodgy. Here is the money for the cover songs we did.
Thanks, one step closer to my merc... uh yeah royalties all paid off, nice job lads, come back next week, play some more covers...

hahaha true- struck me as being weird as well. i don't know, this is my dodgy memory we're relying on

isnt it something like if youre with APRA, you have to give the the venue youre playing at a list of songs + composers, so that APRA can then dish out the royalties to the right people?

you have to pay the venue onwer because they are the ones charging for the people to hear the music so in theory if a free concert ie no one making any money from it, you don't have to pay royalties, my understanding of this comes from the classes i run, if i was charging for them i should be paying for the music i am using to ... is it a p r a?

So covers same as playing cds ok as long as not making any money?

yo. NZ tab archive.

Martha! You are funny! We are all having a great laugh around the office right now! Thanks so much.

I was kidding.

There is nothing wrong with covers.

Jimi: are you really such an arse?

I didn't think Burger King had offices..
