All Christian music SOUNDS the SAME!

All Christian music sounds the fucken same or just ripping off secular(non-Christian) bands.

eg 70+% of the Christian "rock" bands sound like a "born again" Pearl Jam!

one eighty - No-Doubt
Project 86 - Rage Against the Machine
Grammertrain - silverchair/Nivana/Pearl Jam
Channel Surfers - Rage
MXPX - Pennywise
Huntingtons - the Buzzcocks
the Crucified - Deicide
Soda - Zed

i would think of more later but at the moment im to busy having pre-marital sex and taken lots of drugs

even tho some bands have Christian members in them it doesnt mean the band is Christian okay?
Christian bands have the "Christain tone" like the above bands

and dont pussy on about i dont know shit about Christian Music BuTteRfLY...

please no-one turn this into a Religion debate, this is just a Christian music debate
okay?

//Ya just can't fuck to christian music!!!!!!!

Of course. Dam. Who would want to? Wouldn't it just put you off or it will just make you plain evil.

aren't the christian lyrics beside the point? What I mean is: saying "all Christian Metal bands" sound the same is the same as saying "All Metal Bands sound the same".
And secular rock? What the fuck is that?

i dont know about all christian music sounding the same
but the lads sound like shit.

peace be upon mohammad

true nu-metal does sound the same
but u can always pick out the Christian ones even without hearing the words

Judy, you must have magical ears. Good for you digger.

u must be deaf!
the tone buddy!

That is the biggest load of crap I have ever heard. I am not religious but have been in the music industry for some years now and have seen, heard and promoted some great christian musicians. Soda are doing well for themselves and have a fresh sound. Check out the new band "eight" and then re-post your apology please. Thier single "whale" is on Channel Z, The Rock, ZM, and played frequently on Juice TV. I am not a friend of either bands/members, I have been in close contact with the Labels that represent them. Been working for Universal for a couple of years now and have heard some crap secular bands and some crap Christian ones, cuts both ways. Yet in the last few years there has been some really fresh clean new sounds coming from within Churches around New Zealand. I dont knock thier beliefs, only listen to the music and the band "eight" are really going to go places with thier music.

Judy: Are you bringing out brilliant music at the moment?

Yes i am as a matter of fact im in this really cool band could P.O.D you might have heard of us we sound like every other nu-metal bull shit bible-belt band!

Ok maybe the Soda call was very wrong, so sorry to the band/fans.

I guess i should have said American bands, NZ bands do sound different bar a few but i dont wanna piss any1 else off so i keep my opinion to myself!

I saw a POD interview on M2 last night and i found it very amusing to see that the vocalist did not mention christianity once, even when asked directly about the "spirituality" in their music, he totally avoided the god thing and said that the band is all about "love". He obviously failed to mention christianity because it might be bad for record sales. No seriously, i bet its true.

And Judy you are so very right, wether they like it or not. christian music will always be labeled as such, not music, but "christian music". They have their own versions for every band out there including black and death metal christian bands. Bands that sell hundreds of thousands of albums but that the average NON christian has never heard of. This shows how secluded the whole christian music scene is, and im glad they pretty much keep to them selves.

Nu-metal is talentless and isnt true metal in any sense of the word.

Anyone with some kidn of intelligence would be able to see all the contradictions and fallicies in the bible and the entire christian faith so I have a hard time figuring out how Christianity is still relevant today, inside or outside music culture.

Check the link below for REAL METAL... ;]

i'd say it would be the opposite - everyone already knows that p.o.d are christian, and it hasn't hurt record sales has it?
my guess (actually, i've read this in an interview) is that they're VERY sick of interviewers asking pathetic questions about the 'spirituality' and 'godliness' of their music - because that isn't what matters. they don't make it their priority to 'spread the word', they just make music and hate people making their religion an issue.

'we don't make christian music, dude; we might be christians who make music, and that naturally is gonna have some real positive messages in there - but we ain't preaching ya know? ya don't have to be any religion to enjoy our music.' quote p.o.d member.

any comments jaelurman?

//they just make music and hate people making their religion an issue.

I thought Christians weren't allowed to hate anyone except Satan?

Speaking of Satan, isn't Satanism just the dumbest religion ever invented. And the same could be said: All (supposedly) Satanist bands sound the same. Really.

Goddam, The Lads are shit though.

its very fucked up

What is fucked up Judy?

Question: How is any metal good?

Answer: Its just not.

did you just say there is no good metal?
cause if you did.......grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!

i hope i read wrong

all christian music sounds the same to you, huh??.....hmmm interesting...so let me get this right, if you listened to, say, the Parachute Band, and then you listened to born again christian band POD, and they would actually sound the same to you?? hmmm.....interesting....very interesting....

POD might just be the first Christian band that didn't sound like everything else in that "genre" - STERILE! I was amazed that theyre what they are. Some years back I was driving thru Phoenix, Arizona, and I came upon what I eventually concluded was an all Christian Rock station. For the most part that genre is like this (that wack 80's band Stryper comes to mind): It's like eating something non-fat vs. something full of calories - one is satisfying and the other is totally lacking!

I suppose we should all remember that as long as the music is honest as opposed to contrived, and then it's up to the listener.. if people like it then it's worth while; if people don't, then they should hang it up!

I will agree with that, some christian bands really do bite, just like there are plenty of non-christian bands that bite....this is really a very tunnel visioned debate......by saying that all christian music sounds the same, you are basically saying that all music in general sounds the same....
For various christian bands use the same styles as various non christian bands, just as various non-christian bands use the same styles as other non-christian bands. Just because a band has a style, doesnt it mean that style can only be limited to one band or one religion, whether it be christian or not. They play that style because thats the kind of music they like. Most of the time the only thing that can determine a christian band from a non is the lyrics.
So if all christian music sounds the same, and most christian music doesnt sound a hell of a lot different from 'regular' music, then you are in fact saying that all music in general sounds the same.......good one.

Judy, I'd like you to give me some examples on how it sounds the same, and not the same ones you used earlier because you're examples the you had in the first post had nothing to do with what you're arguing. You're saying, or what you've made it sound like you're saying, that all CHRISTIAN music sounds the same, not christian music rips off non-christian music, which would be an even pathetic arguement.

You should try and put a little more substantial evidence behind your arguement instead of making a profoundly stupid statement that makes you sound like a red neck biggot.......

Kind of agree with Butterfly
Most of the music I like is really hard to get and there are some kickin good christian bands out there. Just cause we can't ahold of them and only ever hear the commercial soundalike stuff, cause we live ina smallish country, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. There are some christian bands you all would be struggling to classify. Has anyone heard some of starflyers recent stuff? Sic! I find the same with secular stuff. Some of the best music I've heard, just isn't available hear and is almost impossible to find on the net. Don't talk about what you don't know about!

Im just came across this forum today. I dont see how you can possibly say all christian music sounds the same. At the top of the forum u wrote that MXPX sounds the same as Pennywise and Soda sounds like Zed and Project 86 sounds like Rage. I thought u were trying to say that all CHRISTIAN music sounds the same. Not that some christian bands sound similar to some secular bands??? Of course punk is gonna sound like punk, of course rapcore is gonna sound like rapcore. Alot of christian bands comming out these days are going big because they have a fresh, original sound. Check out 'Blindside' tell me who they sound similar to. Check out 'Switchfoot' this band is gonna do huge things and yet they are extremely original. Please make sure we know what we're on about b4 we go judging music. Some christian bands suck and so do some secular bands. Thats me for now....im out.

Thats true hard out. You can never say that anything sounds the same...I guess you can call it SIMILAR instead of SAME & that will solve the problem for ya.
