first and foremost thanks to all who have responded to my posting. i must make a few ajustments and feedback to those who have posted similar or different opinions - first, why should us headbangers have artificially created and talentles Rubbish AKA Pop Music shoved down our throats 24/7? is this the beginning of the new world order or sumthin? if it is, the NWO sucks dick. secondly J2 Is pretty cool - some great as 80's music is played like the cure and Duran Duran and none of that corporate late 90's manufacured/fake pop groups. Thirdly i cannot escape Juice - My Sisters watch it religiously and it pissess me off majorly. Juice TV Is a tool of corporate america so they can suck in as many kiwi youths as possible to get them to become puppets of the Corporate world and to suppress those who oppose.

How about u go and get fucked lucifer sham.......Juice Rocks!!!!!

hey division, guess what? Pop music is Rigged, it requires no talent to make - just good looks and the ability to publically humiliate yourself. all these popstars are, are just lamerz like yourself who pathetically attempt to draw attention to themselves, they are more obsessed with their looks than musical ability (whatever that maybe) i suggest that you crank up a oh say Judas Priest or Slayer Song on your Stereo and youll be suprised to learn that Heavy Metal aint all that bad. cos Popstars (and their teenybopper fans) are just corporate Puppets.

// to learn that Heavy Metal aint all that bad.

but some is absolute shit just like some pop ain't all that bad.

True Sam, stay heavy bro!

Hey..... heavys fine u mullet lovers but try to broaden your musical spectrum....you might actualy learn something other than how to play in drop D

Hey Teeny Glassons Freaks - pick up a Pantera or Deep purple CD and you will be amazed on how much talent these guys have. Playing Chords in Drop D is actually much better that stoopid clean cut gaybows and/or some Ditzy Blonde Hootchee singing to a computer generated talentless repetative beat created by their producer who actually writes all their songs.

Sam has a feinite point here but you gotta think of it I suppose as being like a radio station. It would be like criticising ZM for being shit when its really aimed at a whole other crowd. I mean, that kinda music ain't my cup of tea, but then again I'm not 12 years old. Maybe the people who make Juice and J2 should make a music channel for alternative and rock music. I know I would watch it for sure, specially since when M2 is on, I'm either not home or asleep. Who else would watch a 24-7 music channel that ain't packed with pop music?

make that "definite point"

Yeah, that'd be cool. Has anyone seen that music vid show on Prime? It's ok, old stuff & not pop. But I have seen newer things too, like Cake & Blur.
It'd have to be on free TV tho!

J2's rather nice, methinks...

I also dislike juice, the main reason being I am bitter about not having access to it....
When I watch it @ my Grandparents (Grrr, rich hoarding old ppl) I don't like what I see tho, I have seen that AWFUL I'm a slave 4 u vid by Britney Spears & I saw Funny Boy by Rubicon & Ja Rule (Ugh!)
Not impressive @ all...

Is that Prime show still on? Prime has like done this full-on change lately, its become more like the TV1/2/3 stations. But shit year, what was it called? That music show was the bomb, showed some wicked clips that you never see on our screens, like old school stuff and new clips from the Beta Band and the like. Fully got into kiwi vids too. I say that besides M2 (which, unfortunately is on at such the oddest time, which counts against it) all TV Music shows need a revamp. And whats with the new Squeeze format? I like the new presenter but sometimes the topic is soooo long and dragged out and boring!

Hmmm, after a quick flick thru the TV guide, I didn;t see it. Not that I remember the name, but I would if I saw it. Yeah, it was such a good vid show comparitively...(sp?)

i think the name of that programme u are searching for guys is 'cue' - they've stopped playing it frequently - but occasionally they play it on sunday mornings and friday nights....

simple piece of advice for you lucifer_sam - stop watching juice!!. lol. and i know what you're trying to say, and i do agree with you in a sense....but in some ways - this has the power to turn against you, if they started playing 'ure type of music' all the 'teenyboppers' would get all pissed off coz they are getting their fix, like everyone else in this forum has pointed out - juice tv is focused at a particular genre of music, because thats how they get the money, more people listen to the type of music they are playing...come on lets face it - they arent playing the music for the people - they're playing it for themselves...they've gotta pay the bills somehow dont they?...sooooo - maybe you could request a song?...

i liked the old squeeze better - the new ones are too 'modern' - all edited and shit, i like the old programs where they never used to mind if there were ppl in b.o.s (back of shot) - like havoc...*ahhhhhh kurasik*....

http://www.canvas.net.nz ]

dagnabbit - thats sposed to say "teeny boppers ARENT getting their fix"....*skills*

http://www.canvas.net.nz ]

yeah Squeeze has a more commercial feel to it now, kind of a reflection on where NZ music is heading at the moment.

the only thing about squeeze that im impressed by is....the fact that it looks good, tidy etc... and its the ONLY programme that is completly NZ music related!!...i just wish it was put on at a better time, more often and maybe even for longer....*ahhh only in a perfect world*

all i gotta say is that its a damned shame that saturn lost channel [V] and got juice instead, i cant say i watch juice a lot seeing as i have neither sky nor saturn but from what i hear it is awful and i am behind lucifer_sams cause. Having said that i am sure that juice plays some respectable music, it cant all be pop or rap

hmmmm arent there dirrent hours for different music?? im sure rock and metal have a space in there just like pop does....everytime ive watched it (not often) theres been about 60% pop/rap shit and 40% punk/metal/rock....i dunno...maybe im mistaken...

yeah to a degree. but there's no real structure to it - this is my main problem with juice. their shows seem more 'lifestyle orientated' rather than telling you what music they play. there doesnt seem to be a change in music relative to shows or presenters, which sucks. the only one i can really think of is 'crash' with bruce which seems a bit more rock-y.

why not have bop after school, rock late at night - and advertise it! so people know when they should tune in.

Yeah, I mean...anyone remember the MTV years?

Yeah, I mean...anyone remember the MTV years?

MTV years....of course. i can remember super-rock but sweet jesus it was on at something like 1am and i had school the next morning, at least MTV had a metal orientated show unlike the pop crap we see on Juice

I don't mind Juice TV, as I've said before you have to consider the wide audience they have to cater to.

Thats a good point Stefan. What I'm saying is there should be a music station in another format. Like leave Juice as a ZM style music channel but have another one with all the cool stuff. I'm sure that it would rate well and have enough support from advertisers. By the way, J2 is surprisingly good. Lots of nice old school stuff from such a wide range of artists (except the Tina Areas and Alison Moyets).

true, maybe Sky should do some market research.
J2 rocks.

yeah i appreciate both juice and j2 for what they are - music video stations playing to a very wide group of people.
//have another one with all the cool stuff
that's what they try to do already... they could try and do it with 'cool stuff' but it may be totally diff to what you think is cool.

with nz being as small as it is, i'd think there's probs with trying to set up dedicated niche stations - because only a certain small percent of an already little population is going to tune in.

gotta agree that J2 is cool, most of the time they dont play anything made after 1992. but yeh it makes me laugh out loud when they play cheezy 80s vids like wham (never considered that back then george michael would 15 years later get caught biffing off in the mens room) and larff even louder watching those dopey 80s haircuts

If you dont like it, dont watch it. It fundementally is a commercial media text, and does play ZM like music, sometimes Juice does air other genres as well. It is there for a market and does serve a purpose and is extremely popular. So yeah, either offer people something better (which I doubt you would know how) or express your opinions a little clearer with less biggoted once sidedness.

Yes I do work closely related to Juice but I also have my own opinion which is stated above.

hey if u work closely related to juice TV, give them a sweet simple msg from me - JUICE TV SUCKS FAT COCK and all their mindless fans and hosts are so trendy, it wants to make me vomit twice. hey funkybitch can i suggest u check out mulch on M2, sure it maybe on late, but if u want metal then 4am saturday mornigns are the time to tune in, if u now excuse me ive gotta head off to work. l8r

if you REALLY want good music TV - choose channel [v] - even tho its australian - it 'caters for everyones needs' - im soo annoyed they took it off saturn here in wellington....it had some good shit on it...even kiwi stuff - altho the constant shihad 'claimage' (is that even a word?) got to me....he he he - www.channelv.com.au

http://www.canvas.net.nz ]

so how exactly do we choose this channel?

you turn the tv off - stare at the screen, and pretend that there are some fucked up aussies running round playing 'ur kinda music'......simple really.

oooor - you could just watch it.

http://www.canvas.net.nz ]

yes, ok, misinterpretation. HOW DO WE WATCH IT?

this 'channel [v]' was part of the music channels that telstra saturn provided. they also had 'mcm' which was live from france. sometimes with fustrating french over-dubs over the english interviews. they used to have some cool live shows tho' and primo french hip hop, reggae and euro stuff. that got sadly and suddenly removed with no explaination.
channel [v] was also live from aussie, to us and canada apparently. they'd also do primo live stuff... tons of videos (most on heavy rotation of course)... in house live stuff with nearly every live act to tour oz & nz... sal dub, kapisi, shihad are among the kiwis to have slotted in to their live @ the studio shows... metal shows were usually primo, r'n'b also... these all got removed for no real reason. saturn tv is stench now, with the crappiest sky channels taking over the real decent stuff. i won't be sad to see it go. rip off artists.
m2 rules the roost. i say video all the best bits, and leave your tv on all night during the weekends to push the ratings up. good work, jane and p-money are wicked.

// they also had 'mcm'

yeah that was on Sky for a while, choice Euro stuff.

and we mustn't forget music country sweetleaf - cream of the crop *wtf????*. but yes, channel [v] was fucking ace...*australia is actually good at something for once*.
mcm was good - i was pretty sad when it got cancelled...but then again - it would have those satellite stuff-ups ever couple of hours...

jimi - oh, you CAN'T watch it *cry*....it is no longer with us...we have to watch time-consuming sky channels nowwwwwwww....

hey what about when NZ had MTV????? *just a thought*....that was semi-okay....

M2 - i like it because it has such a rage in music, and best of all you can actually choose what you want them to play - there is enuf time for them too as well - i just wish they would change the friggin times its onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn....i dont really fancy staying up all night, essp when i have to get up at 7am for work on a saturday/sunday morning.

http://www.canvas.net.nz ]

//mcm

Ah yes, I remember mcm - some choice French indie. I didn't care much for the overdubbed interviews but being quite fluent in French, it wasn't that bad.

huh?? i mean... music country?? was always left feeling that little bit more disconserted...

still had the budget and contacts to screen some half-way house decent live concerts now & then... nothing like another rinsed out eagles tour.

i was loving mcm, and was fully ratted out when they got rid of it. french is one of those poetic languages perfect for music. i wasn't that serious about the over dubs though, it was always that you could barely hear the english speaking underneith the french, but enough not to bother straining to hear. the presenters were kind of interesting. cute and delectable. and also heavily spoken and hard breathing coredom.
'no parle angle' our francs. it's fairly bland at times.

MCM etait tres choette! Les idiots a Sky!

//screen some half-way house decent live concerts now & then... nothing like another rinsed out eagles tour - totally agree with you on that one....was a complete shit filled channel 95% of the time.....the only nz music i EVER saw played on there would've been neil finn and zed....

//mcm - i think the french rap did it for me....soo classic - eminem in french - the supreme. lol.

http://www.canvas.net.nz ]

even on cable television the reception is terrible... the volume is always too low... j2 & juice have nothing on m2, space and saturns old channel v. some of the presenters are pretty hot tho'.

no offence to those that work behind the system, but juice has been frustrating for a longtime. they do play a very mono selection which is dotted occassionally with good videos. for me, overall it's very poor. m2 has shown that it's pretty easy to play good videos - they suprised me the other night with about 10 vids in a row that were all really good and varied.

man i love m2 as well except for the time factor... prime was so cool when it had cue, and this thing called music train or sumfin like that. every episode it would be this one hour show about a particular artist!
