I thought this as well. Although I guess we've been racing Alinghi a bit this time round. Dunno if that will make a difference...
A friend told me that
A friend told me that although the challenger has the benefit of previous competition, the defender has an advantage of setting the timing of the races; they can optimise their boat for specific conditions. The challenging yachts need to be all-rounders that can handle all types of seas/wind/etc.
