I was recently introduced to a New Zealand band called Dukes, their music immediately intrigued me. Their genre is listed as indie/country/rock and this combination along with the variety between their songs makes for great listening. Some of the songs I have found instantly likeable others aquired but overall they are near the top of my list for listening at the moment. They are based in Christchurch but are playing in Auckland soon and have an upcoming tour of NZ so I will definately be heading to at least one of their upcoming shows.
