Arrrgh! I just spent ages writing a reply to this post. It was sparked by an "Oh my god! Uncanny!" moment, because I'd been thinking about and YouTube-ing that very song earlier in the day. Twenty-odd years since it was released, and here we are dwelling on the same song at the same time, I marvelled. My reply was heady with nostalgia about the video for the song, and how its tone and production make it an instant time warp back to the 80s for me. I waxed long about how that particular artist had always been at the fringes of my tastes with occasional songs that grabbed me but how he had never quite become a favourite, but that I really respected the way he had prevailed over time to become an esteemed musician.
It was a time-consuming piece - certainly to write, and probably to read, too.
Then I realised I was thinking about a different song: Everyday I Write the Book by Elvis Costello. Guess I should have paid more attention.
For the last year or so, Hosannas From The basements Of Hell, the single of killing Joke´s 2006 album with the same title, this is one angry mayhem of a song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmsxogW1_-4
Is choosing something by the stones allowed? Perhaps the standard top albums of all times rules apply here..... Nothing by Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath (Ozzy Years) Aerosmith (the drug years) etc etc etc
