Gotta agree with steemus on that one. Weta were great, but they are no more. Letterbox Lambs released a brilliant album recently but no one has really bought it... King Kapisi is the best vocalist. Jon Toogood and Julia Deans are also brilliant...
Its a personal opinion really, some would say Dame Kiri is thier fav..... but she's not for me. Theres heaps of bands around, maybe people should take a closer look in thier own neighbourhood or town, theres bound to be some good stuff close by.Its about time we stop living on the crap thats shoved down our throats by the TV execs, we're being treated like suckers. Start supporting the local bands they'll only get better...think global, act local
i recon 'Purrr' is New Zealands best band! I saw them open for the Venga Boys and they were so cool! Hard to believe they are even from NZ! www.purrr.homestead.com

ok i have to say there are so many amazing musicians and bands and solo peoples out there its just SO HARD...but i must say that i love trinity roots....all there music its played with such love and all there hearts are put into the music they play(not saying that other bands dont put in there all) but yeah go trinity you guys rock my world......ive always been there supporting you with my bubbles!!!!
well,neil finn for me kicks arse as a singer but i'm still deciding on best nz band.it's either high dependency unit,the feelers,zed or bailterspace.you guys rock on like nothing else on this earth!!!!!

i agree with all of u but i would have 2 say deffinately zed and nathan king. they arent just another boy band coz they dont gaybo dance and i think heaps of ppl luv zed because nathan and age and all the rest of the guys r down to earth sweet nice always willing to sign autographs and theyre really hot to

After reading all these comments I am estatic in the interest that has evolved within the NZ music industry over the past 10 years. Yes we may have bands like zed,, breath etc that have fullen to the victim of presuadtion. I have thought and wonderd, I know these bands don't know different until they get there, there musical influences are what you see infront of them and that is great. Are we going to drag these bands across the road belting them with Bet Midler albums, no, we are here to encourage them. New Zealand music grows and grows and the leader of this growth is Dimmer in my eyes. A band that has not given in and still prevail to be hostile to the true meaning of music. The progression of Shane Cater to now, is very similar to that of our overseas comrades but is still taking music further, not making it stagnent like our commercial buddies. So the music world is divided into the two Art, Industry. And you have the nack to ask who the best band in New Zealand is. Do you hold or pull?
