Hi everyone, Im a teacher at and Auckland high school and this year we are doing stage challenge with a very NZ theme. So we are trying to use all NZ music to stay completely true to our story.
Anyway, without giving away to many trade secrets, can anyone suggest music tracks for a fire dance (something a bit trance/rock/hip hop or a series of tracks), a mourning/newlife dance (probabaly something slowish - but with a bit of umph).
Also, does anyone know a recording of a Hornpipe done by a NZ orchestra/philharmonia???
Any ideas are appreciated!!
Thanks

If you want trancey stuff, the most well-regarded I think is a duo called Antix. You could also try either epsilon-blue album. I don't live in NZ at the moment, but I remember the epsilon-blue stuff being pretty easy to find when I was last there.
I've got to go out, but that's one suggestion.

Yeah, you might wanna try an album by Rockwood (Pete Wood from Salmonella Dub) called 'Trippers Guide To House'...has lots of crazy fusions on it, covers all the above bases that you are asking about.Sorry but no Hornpipe solos though, for that I suggest checking out the new Brooke Fraser album maybe....

A fire dance (something a bit trance/rock/hip hop or a series of tracks),
- Concord Dawn would probably be ideal for this.
a mourning/newlife dance (probabaly something slowish - but with a bit of umph).
- Trinity Roots perhaps? or Jakob?
Also, does anyone know a recording of a Hornpipe done by a NZ orchestra/philharmonia???
- Nope!
Any ideas are appreciated!!
