Inferno has been robbed by some cunt, I don't know the full extent of it yet. But it sounds like we got cleaned out.
It's Dunedin not many people own this kind of gear- expensive production mic's transmitter's etc...
im sketchy on the details but at this stage Inferno is off air ....which is MEGA cunty as we try to get ready for the new university year.
Inferno has always been not for profit and supports many local bands get local airtime, as well as helping many people interested in radio get a good grounding in announcing.
being not for profit means we certainly dont have the cash to replace any equipment that has been nicked, and i know our new owner nora has been completely gutted by the theft
so if you hear some fucktard bragging about their "sweet new radio gear"...kick their ass and/or contact me
****EDIT****
found out some more details today, we got of luckily (i guess) in that they left our computers, compresser and transmitter behind. so all our music playlist wont need re-doing
what they HAVE taken is a behringer brand 20 channel mixing desk, two studio mics and a very pricey production mic.

we are back on air as of now...but only with music, no announcers. so yeah a real shame for the various DJ crews we were hoping to train for the new year.
looking foward this is quite a big hurdle for us to get around, it wont kill us but it's going to make us a bit less easy going in the future. i mean the first suspicion lies with our current and ex volunteers and that REALLY blows

good luck with recovering the gear.

Chewy, here's an idea:
Let the ODT know about it and get an article on it, and leave contact details for anybody wanting to donate to help get things running again.
Then go round all local businesses the next day asking them if they'd like to donate some gold coins to funding a new desk. They'll have read the article so they'll know you're the real deal and what's a few bucks to help a good cause?
Then maybe ask all the decent bands in those parts to participate in a fund-raising gig free of charge, to help get the rest of the cash. If you got all those cats playing at Arc or Refuel on pint night and had someone taking $3 at the door for an Inferno badge or sticker + admission, you'll get the cash no worries and it will also give Inferno a nice promotional push for the start of the university year. Wayhey!
