yep they are very good, great on stage, saw them twice over the summer, and from what I was reading on the general boards they went really well at the big day out
i agree with everyone else here that mg are just the greatest and to think they came from a wee place like Takaka. does anyone know when their cd is due out
Mother Guru sound amazing everytime I've seen them. They're wickedly telented. Need to come back to auckers though- theyre songs arnt replaying my my head much anymore. Can't wait for the album :)
Attention all grooverz on the MG forum! This is Daz here (guitarist) from Mother Guru. From all at the MG base, I would like to extend our appreciation for all your comments and words about the band.
Those who have seen us live, know that we are all about high energy and creating a positve vibration in the moment. We try to give you a space where you can totally lose yourself and become a part of the music and the show. Going by the feedback I've seen here, there is a definite connection happening between us all and we are hanging out to get back on the road and see you all (and your friends) again!!
Thanks again...
mother guru has to be the best band aoround at the moment...i love these guys. their energy when they play live is just huge and the crowd loves it. good one guys. anyone know if they're playing near hamilton soon?
awww that was lovely :) Darryl and the guys, if you are still monitoring this, your mentioned on my bands site so check it out under the 'nzbands" section
Comon' you mother guru boys, hurry up and come to auckland. Why should we buy your album, if you cant even be bothered to come up here to play for us.
GET A HAIR CUT!!!!!!
//Why should we buy your album, if you cant even be bothered to come up here to play for us.
how much fucking money do you think they have??? they work full time and still struggle, like most nz musicians.
hehe yup they did, it was and they were awesome. I think Avia is just sad that she/he hasnt been able to see them play for ages and is trying to con them into coming up here hehe
Saw MotherGuru at the Big Day out - Then the night after at after party - They are really nice people - got to meet them for a bit got a picture taken Ill post them up on my site later once I scan them - Mother Guru ROCK
this newspaper article appeared a week or so back, sorry it may take a while to load but for you mother guru fans in auckland and nelson it contains some interesting news.
Went for a look see last night at the loft, more to wet my appetite for next weeks extravaganza than to see canvas,
And as usual they met my expectations of a polished well formed unit, sound levels just right for the small room, so my plugs stayed in my pocket.
Mo Dry's voice can melt butter it is so warm then without breath can go to a full throated rock roar.
Darryl's flying fingers and dreads have to be seen and heard to be believed, but stand back cos those dreads at nearly a meter long could do some major damage.
yep true super rock heros, that pump out a sound and rythm that has nearly left me with RSI in my neck.
Had to feel sorry for canvas, getting up on stage after these guys, almost as soom as M.Guru's set was over the place emptyed out and did not return to the full numbers or engery of ealier in the night......... but if you don't get on stage till after midnight what can you really expect but the true devoties and the drunks to be left in the room..... a warning for all.
Well Wellington is going to be treated to this fine examples of what Nelson can do, look don't take my word for it go see them if you have time Saturday Night 28th

2 at posting about the "rumoured" big gig in Nelson about 8 hours after daz's post, tee hee if the comments in chat are anything to go by we maybe having a NZMers party at the gig ( Well 6 that I know of so far anyway)
It should be an awsome night, and if you guys do as well at recreating " the stadium concert" as you did the old style "big screen projector behind the band concert hall" atmosphere at the Theater Royal it will be a craker.
oh and guys good luck in Wellytown with the recording and all.
The boys are playing next weekend @ INDIGO (Wellington) with support from 1QA and Saliva Twist. Check out the events page on ww.motherguru.com for more info on up-coming gigs and festivals for December. We are still to finalise a release date, but at this stage it looks like early February. We think you'll like it!!!..tell a friend. cheers!!
We will have our release party at the Theatre Royal(Nelson), it will be February rather than November, as previously mentioned. Aka, you should send us your e-mail address... motherguru@hotmail.com
I was so impressed by Mother Guru at the cusp. Didn't score a free CD unfortunately, that bastard Jimi did & he was right next to me...
Tonight I tried to sneak into a gig of theirs but failed. *sniff* but I got to say hi to 2 of the boys on the side of the street & that kinda made up a little bit, cos they seem so nice & friendly. awwww. Mother Guru rovk /m/
Hmm well I have officially decided that Mother Guru are my favourite band. Saw them for the 13th time yesterday (It's so hard now...I want more...neeeeeeed more Mother Guru ahhhhh). Wow they play such cool music, love it sooo much. Five sleeps, till their cd! Five sleeps!!! Such a looooong time. Can't wait :)
Wow! Wow! Wow! Completley amazing!!! I am soooooo happy! I can't express what I feel right now. Complete amazment, happiness and all things wonderful, I guess. WOW!!! Ok...first I'll talk about the gig. Groove Collective were on first. They were cool. A great band to have playing as people drift in. They played for a while. I really like the guitarist and the drummer. I was soooo excited at this point!!! Soon Master Pilot were on. I like them, but they were kind of boring - on account of seeing them loads of times. Still they were alright. I really just wanted Mother Guru to come on!!! Before Mother Guru came on ther was a display of Capoeira, a Brazilian martial art. Really amazing to watch. Then what I had been waiting for...MOTHER GURU!!!!! I have no idea what to say. I am overwhelmed. They are so awesome. If they ever come near your town/city GO! GO! GO! I can't begin to explain anything. They are fantastic. Any oppertunity you get to see them please go, it is really something you don't want to miss. They played really well tonight. You could see they were happy and please and excited. It was great! WOW!
Now for the CD... Great, fantastic, fabulous, amazing, brilliant, beautiful, awesome and insperational. It's kinda different to what they are like live, but I really really do like it. It's so good to have it and to be able to listen to it whenever I want to. I want to listen to it all the time. It is truly beautiful. Mother Guru are so sooooooo great!!!
Darryl, Josh, Mo and Tama thank you all so so so so so much. I will be forever greatful to you. You are truly insperational. And Darryl, you were talking about standing infront of your idol, and how that was a wonderful experience. Well I thank you - for I now know how that feels too.
So... to sum up... Mother Guru are amazing and I love them with all my heart. Go see them when you can.
and... MOTHER GURU ARE GREAT!
MOTHER GURU ARE GREAT!

It was so nice to catch up with you and AKA for a reflective moment or two after the show. You were beaming!
I feel last night was definitely one of, if not, my best performances to date. Much credit to the Home-town crowd for the amazing energy exchange, not to mention our exceptionally professional crew for keeping the flow all night and ensuring I had one of the phattest guitar sounds to date!!!
