Well, that's the thing with rumours - they just can be taken as gospel truth. Besides "Remote" is a crap name. If I were to suggest a name for the band, it'd be "Shihad".
please god no...... i got annoyed with people attacking remote - but now i'm starting to feel some of that dread induced anger......
i think it was jon last night on the bdo special who said 'i think we've come up with a name that reflects where we're from' ; surely another name could do this without sounding like a butter brand?
then again, these are just channel z rumours so i'll reserve judgement.
haha well fernstripe sounds better than remote!
remote is just a bit.....pub-band sounding....its just such a boring, boring name.
i know fernstripe sounds like a brand of butter (or perhaps a cricket team) but it is much better than remote i.m.h.o
Well, I live in america and no one that I talk to believes the name will hurt them. (no immediate connection to Jihad is made! --its a band, not a terrorist organization) I'm not sure how you all pronounce it, but Jihad has the last syllable stressed (jiHAD) and I have always stressed the first syllable in SHIhad. (maybe I'm saying it wrong to you guys but that's how it would be said here) Besides, those backwards people who would not buy a shihad CD on the basis of the name wouldn't buy it anyways. Furthermore, DJ's here love having something to talk about. and the band carrying on a huge debate over their name and whether or not to change it is news worthy. we can differentiate between a band and a holy war. music lovers don't cower in fear of being misunderstood, they sympathize with it. well, that's my opinion...along with the many people that I have introduced to one of the best bands in the world. And if they decide to change their name...I like the idea that it get changed for the u.s. only because they will always be shihad to me. In any case I can't wait for the new album and tour. I was saving up to fly to Australia just to see them...now maybe I'll get to see them here. As Shihad or by any other name they have got a great chance of success here in the states. their just too good not to. :)
